My wifes birthday is the day before so I just lump them together. There is usually a dinner involved. It will be 46 years in sept so I'm doing something right.
My wife’s birthday is the Day Of…..Feb14, I’m definitely running a combination & holding true so far, 18yrs together so far. At 46yrs, you my friend have got it figured out!….Congrats

I'm not even married and dropped $30.00 on national simps day.

Cheap insurance I guess, as I don't have to hear her mouth about how bad I am not to get anything. I work nights so it must have worked, got a full 8 hours of sleep undisturbed!

50% of the reason I married my wife is we have the same birthday.
25% of the reason was our mutual hate for Valentine’s Day.

We do a nice dinner at home and that’s about it.
Sounds like you married a sensible woman! 2 holidays in one and a nice dinner at home sounds perfect.

That's what I'm thinking. I have it easy, really. She doesn't ask much, makes great money, puts out on demand, and only needs to know I'm thinking about her and do care about what she wants and feels.

If your wife isn't your girlfriend, then it ain't as good as what I got!

If you're married, have a car arrive to pick your wife up...have the driver tell her she'll wanna dress up. He must refuse to tell her where he is taking her but there are flowers, champagne and a hand written note from you waiting for her in the car. Use your imagination for the rest.
A stranger shows up and tells your wife to put on something pretty, she’s coming with him? And she does it?

I’m not a huge fan of commercializing holidays, my wife either.

We took the day off from work, both self-employed, and spent the day together. Time together is more important at this point in life than money spent on flowers or cards. Wife would prefer a nice six pack of beer anyway.

What's considered a "nice" 6 pack of beer?

I gave my 16 year old daughter a card and a box of Emergen-C elderberry flavor. She laughed, smiled, and gave me a big hug, well worth it!

My sons and I got my wife some artisan chocolate, a dozen roses, and and new Scott release for the new Mathews she's getting in a couple weeks.

We got the boys some chocolate and bright red blinky lights for the back of their bicycles and $ put away for the draw next month.

She got me some new clippers to keep my thinning hair nice and short. :)

Function over form is how we usually roll.

That's why there's a hand written note in the car. And yes...part of the fun is the subtle drama created. I sent a 1958 Bentley.

When I was young, I couldn't wait for Valentines Day. Almost more than Christmas. As I got older the anticipation and joy started to fade. Now I have replaced excitement with almost dread.

It's my birthday.

Yeah, I'm pretty ok on reading comprehension. Her seeing the note requires her to agree to get in a strange car with a strange man with no notice, after agreeing to get dressed up. I'm glad it worked for you, I can imagine that becoming a really long night if I tried it. (y)

We've been married 42 years now and our Valentine's Day has slowly morphed into a pleasant supper (shrimp cocktail, wedge salad, some nice crusty bread, broiled little potatoes and fillets on the grill- we split the duties), a movie at home. and................ :D

So yeah, Valentines Day is okay in my book.

I'll cook some steaks and some lobster tails tonight for myself, the wife, 3.5 and 1.5 yr old...
Well I was elk hunting in New Mexico this year on our 25th wedding anniversary it’s a shame there’s no hunting seasons in February
There is always something to hunt somewhere, waterfowl, wolves, other continents. Where there is a will there is a way

The expectation of something for any day (birthday, Christmas, Valentine's day) is obnoxious. I have spend the last thirteen years of marriage not doing anything for Valentine's day. Made it all the more fun to bring chocolates, wine, and flowers yesterday.
