Last year my wife left the Valentines card I gave her at dinner (dined out I think) unopened. It was still unopened & on the kitchen island more than a week later. Didn’t really bother me, but that card got put away & remained unnoticed that it had disappeared ….. so she is getting same card “reissued” at dinner tonight. 😁
Let us know if she figures it out!

I appreciate the Holidays, even if are tempted to celebrate in an over-commercialized manner.

A friend of my rented part of a nice venue for the reception of his oldest daughter's wedding just after New Year's. Open bar, catered meals, etc. Just under 100 guests. He was saying how it cost $15,000 all-in for 5 hours of celebration and while he could afford to spend that amount of money many times over the expense for a few hours seemed silly to him.
15k seems like a bargain these days. My brother married a girl whose family is extremely well off. Their 3 day extravaganza was somewhere around 250k and was featured in a wedding magazine. Now that was silly but, it was a hell of a good time!

Nothing says I love you more than a wagon to pull the groceries into the house. lol

She really liked it. lol

I thought it was overpriced, but then again, what the hell, its Valentine's day! lmfao
Those are nice, last year my wife asked me to get one for her.
30 years happily married, I am on the road this week working this morning she called and asked me if i sent her flowers, she said good, too expensive and done last.

We too stopped buying when told, we treat our selfies through out the year. It is a surprise and has more meaning. She is great putting with me and never expected high dollar gifts.

I attended three 6-figure wedding back in the 1980s. Great parties. Live music. Top notch food and booze. Amazing venues including the Mission Basilica in San Juan Capistrano and the Ritz Carlton. The bride and groom at each wedding looked exhausted as the reception was ending. One couple is married still while one divorced in less than five years and one divorced as the last kid was graduating high school. Does not seem the big wedding approach nurtured or doomed the couple. I drank so much at one of those receptions that I was Greek dancing with 30 strangers in a rotating circle and was jitterbugging at one of the other receptions. I have never attempted those dances before or after. God Bless tequila and youth.

So she texts me a picture of a bouquet of flowers, saying how sweet I am. For the first time in 13 (14?) years, I sent her flowers.

Except I didn't send any flowers.... 🤔

Good grief, one romantic day a year is too much for the gals who put up with us?
Tough crowd.

We all know the really good wives aren't hung up on it, they won't say it but the truth is that the attention is appreciated.
Valentines doesn't require any real expense; a hand-written poem or note and a couple of Hershey's kisses go a long way to a fun evening.

It's the thought with most women, including mine.

^^^ he gets it. Valentines Day is always a good investment for me.

Minimal effort on my part to remind her I love her. Then again, it's not just limited to one day in February. She does the same for me.

Fellas, concentrating on only what you get out of a relationship with the lady in your life is a mighty quick way to find unhappiness, regardless of the day of year.

Amen.

I’m not a huge fan of commercializing holidays, my wife either.

We took the day off from work, both self-employed, and spent the day together. Time together is more important at this point in life than money spent on flowers or cards. Wife would prefer a nice six pack of beer anyway.
