Moved into a different house kinda starting from scratch
Being an outdoors family with 3 boys means a lot of gear
Lets seem some ideas for winter projects on storing gear/ tools/ and I also have my bow shop to re set up in this new garage!

Packs the small odds and end camping gear is what I want to organize the most

Epoxy the floors before you do anything else, wish I'd done that before we moved into our house but we were kind of in a hurry. If money were no object, I'd have a Levrack set up.

Can also sometimes round up sets of old school lockers for sale. You can jam a lotta stuff in those.

Why?

Much easier to keep clean if your garage is going to be more of a storage unit versus actually parking vehicles in it. And if you do park on it, oil, grime, tire marks just wipe off instead of staining the concrete.

Id you use the black/yellow plastic totes and have a lower ceiling, this system works really well. You need to be careful about the weight, but this is how I store all of my wife's seasonal decor and the kids clothes

Ceiling mounted storage is a must. I like the Fleximount system for lighter, bulky seasonal items.

I use Gladiator gear track around the entire garage perimeter for tools and flexible storage. What brand you buy doesn’t really matter, just a modular track system with a bunch of different hooks.

Bikes need to vertically on the wall. I like the feedback sports velo hinge system but there are knockoffs that do the same thing.

Get the 2” receiver wall mounts to store hitch racks

Building a charging station for all batteries, power tools, lawn tools, etc and neatly route all the wiring with wire ways.

I have a harbor freight 110v winch mounted to my ceiling to lift my kayak which was a cool, mildly overkill project.

Vertical wall mounted fishing rod holders are great.

Replace all lighting with flexible high output led panel lights.

Garage organization is a living, evolving thing. Flexibility where ever possible really matters. Pick the fixed monument locations like overhead racking with caution. All space should be considered in 3 dimensions.

I’ve picked up some industrial pallet racking and filing cabinets for cheap from Facebook Marketplace and local auctions. The pallet racking is overkill strength-wise but made great floor-to-ceiling shelving. Filing cabinets are good for small-to-medium sized odds and ends.
