Anyone use the vevor over head shelves?

I'm sure they are fine, but take some of the description and see what other 3rd party china reseller has it for less. Sometimes the big box stores have a similar unit for roughly the same price.

I built shelves along the perimeter with cheap brackets and shelving from Lowe’s.

Built my own as well. Super sturdy. They run the perimeter of my garage and not ridiculously expensive. All those bins are full of hunting and camping stuff. I have two other identical setups on the sides as well.

They hold a ton of weight. That said I like the vevor concept but you could do the same with some angle brackets and a cutoff wheel etc for a lot less. I have room for that type of setup but don't like the claustrophobic feeling. Ive thought about using them over the garage door too.

I have built shelves on two sides inside of my garage. Tied into the studs and built with joist hangers. one is 20ish ft long and 4ft wide.. the other is 8'x4'. Great for all my deer stands, climbing sticks, dog kennels, two pontoon rafts and frames, trapping equipment etc.

I hung a 4x8 Masterforce rack, the same thing as the Vevor ones the OP is asking about. ZERO complaints. I put my coolers, ground blinds and pop up fish house on one side and have random containers of christams/easter/halloween decorations and some fold up tables on the other side. For basic storage how i use it I like it a lot better than the built shelves. For one the stick out 4ft. If you built DIY ones out that far you need to brace them really well. Also even with stuff on them the wire lets light thorough so it is not as dark under them....and the height is adjustable even after installing them. I also use some accessory hangers that you can by for them to hang strollers, kids bikes, brooms, rakes, etc from. I do however have 12ft ceilings in my garage.

If I was just stacking a few bins or random cans etc I would build one. For more stuff and larger shelves I'd buy these again in a hear beat. And again I have two large built wood shelves that together give me 4'x28' of solid storage that I can literally get on and walk around on. In fact I am probably going to add another 4x8 section of the overhead storage racks this summer.

I also made my own. The all-thread runs up through the ceiling and through a 4x4 that lays across the bottom chord of the trusses to distribute weight. Just put a washer and tightened a self locking nut to get it level. Also anchored some lag bolts into the wall studs and put a ledger board underneath. I could probable stack the shelf with lead bars and it wouldn't budge.

I built these this year at the new house. I drilled through the shelf and used a nut and washer on the all thread. On the ceiling portion I used a Sami lag bolt which allows you to screw your all thread into.

My fiance ands i just bought a house with a nice big garage and i have been thinking on how i want to do the storage. This looks like the most practical idea. What size all thread did you use? What was your process for setting the lag bolt in the ceiling?

All I did was predrill a pilot hole into my truss, then screwed in the lag bolt. As far as the size of all thread I bought 3/8” I believe. My trusses run parallel to to my shelves, so just has to make sure I had one near the edge of my shelf. Those shelves are 24” deep, some sections are 10’ others are 8’ in length.

Can't say I'd recommend removing any material from the bottom chord of a truss.

Hanging a heavy load from the bottom of a truss is risky imo.
