I picked up my first German shorthaired pointer last week! I used to upland hunt alot but got out of it when I got really serious with big game. Anyway, though it was time to get back into it.

Meet "Moose"! He's a handful right now but I think it'll be worth it come hunting season.

Moose and our chocolate lab Spike

Being a puppy is tough

He is 8 weeks old. Pretty neat to watch the instinctively point. Pheasant wing on a string and he was pointing it almost instantly!

Good looking pup. I have a similar situation as you do... my Brittany is 10 months and my chocolate lab is 8 weeks.

I'm up in lake Stevens if you ever want to get together and work on some birds during the off season.

I love my shorthairs (I've got three) and a liver male like yours. They are pretty on point for sure!

I do way more bird hunting than big game. I spent 30 days hunting quail this year. You guys have some good hunting there in western Washington. Good luck with the pup!
