My wife and I have been making our own for a few years. Spaghetti, chicken teriyaki, chicken noodle soup, alfredo...you name it. You make the food how you like it, divide into preferred portion size, freeze it, weigh it, put it in freeze dryer. When it's done, weigh portions again to determine how much boiling water to add. Drop it in a mylar bag and you're done. No extra preservatives, no huge doses of sodium. When you re-constitute it, it tastes like you just got dinner off the stove at home.
A friend of mine goes to local restaurants and gets his favorite meals in a to-go box. He freezes them and has me freeze dry it. Then he has Panda Express or whatever on the mountain.
