Anyone have any experience with this engine in a ford superduty? Aside from gas mileage, and problems that have been caused by excessive idling in work vans I have heard only good things. Thank!

I’ve been happy with my 2022 but I only have ~28k on it. I had a plug wire go out towing on vacation once, swung into a dealer and they confirmed and swapped it out. After the trip I put in a set of Belden wires from Napa with heat wrap on them, I have my old original wires under my rear seat if I ever need a spare.

There was a cam supplier qaqc issue that could rear its head on folks.

'21 7.3 about to turn 90k....No issues with the motor...1st 10sp crapped out at 60k. I towe maybe once a month.
Get the extended warranty
Below is the list of my warranty claims.
I am not going to bother listing recalls can't keep up with those.

Apim module replacement, thats the fancy doodads that works all your screens, GPS, ect.
Transfer case
Transmission
Well hub and abs sensor
Door combo pad
Currently in the shop for new sliding back glass, motor ate the cables.

Still keeping my truck, worked out most of the bugs now...lol

On the bright side you always get loaner when it's in for warranty claim. Ask me about F150s, had 2.7, 3.7, 5.0, and now a Powerboost oost all for at least a week in the last 5 yrs.

There was a lifter recall around '23 to be ware of..buddies 7.3 had the motor replaced at 9k for defective lifters.

All the manfuactues make shit today!
Roll the dice with v6 in Toyota's, 6.2s in GMs, or 10sp trannys with Ford.
Good Luck!

I’ve been looking hard at one as well, buddy just dropped the engine In his due to low oil pressure.

Which one of those f150’s did you like the most? I’ve had a 5.0 since 2018 and it’s been great. Here good things about the other engines when it comes to torque and speed, nothing good about reliability however.

I probably should have started this thread last year, because I already bought a new 7.3 about a year ago. 10,000 on it now and everything has been great, besides I hate how the 10 speed transmission feels like it lags sometimes when going under 20 mph. Just wanted to see what others have to say about it, was definitely a big purchase. I’m glad I went with the gas over the 6.7 diesel with how fuel prices have shot up. Diesel where I’m at is $2 a gallon more than gas.

The 7.5kw gen in the back of the powerboost is nice. When it's empty it's quick. Been getting 20mpg. I am not of fan of turbos I think more moving parts equals more problems, I think it would be a maintenance nightmare past 100k.
Nothing like the 5.0 sound and simplicity, if you could add the 2.5kw gen in the bed that's they way I would go.

I did get the 2.5kw gen in my 7.3. Haven’t used it yet lol

My 2015 3.5 Ecoboost has 190k miles.
I replaced the exhaust manifolds at about 160 due to a sheared bolt...Not uncommon.
Other than that, basic maintenance I do myself plus a couple of coilpacks.
Great engine, great platform.
People like to sound knowledgeable by crapping on Ecoboost engines but they're actually very good.
Much better than my Toyota experience.

How much did those exhaust manifolds set you back? I have a 2015 also, but with the 5.0 and the 6R80 trans. 160K no problems besides a couple radiator hoses because ford used plastic attachments rather then the classic metal clamp style. I think it’s more than people who aren’t knowledgeable wanting to sound knowledgeable. I’m surprised you were able to put 200k on a 1st gen 3.5 without cam phaser or timing chain problems, they are notorious for that.
