Food plot tractors

I’m thinking 75 max and 50-60 minimum. It’s 1000 acre farm, couple hundred acres of pasture. Im gonna take a stab at Christmas trees, food plots, gotta do bush hogging, maintaining old logging roads as well.

At those HP levels, tractor mass is going to make a bigger difference than horsepower unless your primary use is the PTO for mowing and such. Example, Deere 4066R has 65 hp and weighs 3770 lb, Deere 5060E has 60 HP and weighs 5919 lb. The 5060 is going to be able to substantially more work on ground engaging activities and will be able to handle heavier 3 pt implements without getting tossed around as much. That said, for someone who didn't grow up around tractors like me, the hydro tranny on the 4066 is nice.

Dont discount what a smaller tractor can do. I bought a new at the time 2020 Kubota L2501. 25 hp diesel. 3500lb. Within a few years I added a snow plow, pallet forks, and a 60 inch roto tiller. Total investment under 30 grand. Do a few acres of food plots with ease every year. Only once did I need assistance on my 900 ft driveway when the drifts froze overnight. If I had to do it again I would skip the plow and get a bushog though. I already had a tow behind mower for my quad so I went with the plow instead.

Also, Id have a cab and cut my trails to accommodate, if it didn't add a bunch of $ to the cost of the tractor!

Check on filling tires,get 4WD, find out what the heaviest thing you will lift both front and back.I got a 5065E because it would lift my tree spade on front. Had to run 2 more Hydro connections up front.If you want a new one check with dealers closest to you as they are easiest for parts and service.Kubota "not the gray manufacture"JD,Massy,are all good. Most have a sale during the year where you can get interest free financing. Also quick detach for bucket is nice just make sure what connection it is when getting other implements such as forks.
