Fierce Firearms Disaster

Stupid way to fail...

A guy brought in another Fierce and asked if I could get it to shoot or do load dev for it.

I told him my previous experiences with Fierce to set his expectations but said I could give it a try.

First I shot it as he brought it to assess current precision. (front target)

Then I tore it apart, the first thing i noticed was no bedding, zero. Fierce usually beds just the lug.

So, I bedded the action, degreased everything and put it back together with thread locker and torqued accordingly.

The back target is after bedding. I shot the 160CX and quit at 3 since it was apparent it wasn't going to shoot those.
Then shot the Precision Hunter 175 ELDX- 6 into ¾" was a pleasant surprise.

I picked up a box of 180 ELDM Match ammo to try also.
not great but it would work.

So even though this ended in success, Fierce could have just bedded their $3,000 rifle in the first place.

Pretty wild how badly it hates the CX vs how much it loves that ELD. Just goes to show how much more important the components are than all the stupid tweaks and burning stuff up testing.

Great work!!

No personal experience with Fierce, just wanted to share a story. Yesterday was at the gun shop doing paperwork on a new rifle, one of the owners was talking to me about a Fierce he had gotten in and it wouldn't shoot, He said the fix was rebarrel and bed it. He said this was on a $6000 rifle. I couldn't tell you which model rifle it was he was working on.

Even with a POS rifle, he couldn't bring himself to not stretch the price he paid.

This time of year I end up quite busy helping friends, friends of friends, family members, etc get their rifles ready for their hunts.

I was brought another Fierce last week… I have yet to see a fierce rifle that didn’t need tweaking from factory to get it to shoot properly. They have all also always been very particular on what bullets they shoot well.

Its almost as of people shouldn't buy these rifles?**
