I am wanting to get a 7 saum built to shoot suppressed and be light as a backpack/horse elk rifle. I reached out to Fierce they say they can do it but noted its not offered in their normal caliber line. Any thoughts? Was also looking at MOA but man when you compare prices the fierce looks like the way to go?

Which action were you looking at getting from fierce? I bout a CT Rival just before Christmas. It's a 300 WM with a 22" barrel. The guy at fierce said they built a few for guys that wanted to shoot suppressed. I am loving it so far. The group in the pic is from just throwing together 3 groups with different seating depths and the same powder charge. A buddy has the carbon edge in 280 AI with a 22" barrel and it's a shooter as well. Sample size of 2 but fierce stuff seems to shoot.

Did a carbon fury build in .300wm two years ago and its been a good shooter. No complaints regarding the setup and their customer service was good through the process. Went with a 24” barrel. Running 180gr barnes.

I really wanted Fierce to make me a CT Edge with an 18" barrel chambered in 7 saum or 7 sherman short. They weren't willing to work with me to make it happen at all. I own 3 edge rifles and like them a lot, but they need to figure out shorter barrels are desired by people that like suppresed hunting. An 18" CT Edge in 7 saum or sherman short with an AB Raptor suppressor would damn near be the perfect mountain rifle in my opinion.

Their customer service and general give a s**t is rather terrible, but the edge rifles are great. I may just say the hell with it and rebarrel my CT Edge to what I want it to be. They weren't even willing to just rebarrel for me so another company will be getting my money for a barrel.

I’m still considering switching my tikka from 7 mag to 7 saum. The biggest road block is brass. ADG and Bertram are the only suppliers I know of. ADG just recently did a release of some brass and it sold out lightning fast.

7mm cartridges are kind of tough to build around. If you want to shoot the heavy pills and seat them long you’re pretty much committed to a long action. Even 7 saum with 175gr+ seated long will need a LA or at least an “intermediate length action.”

If you accept the LA deal and are happy with anticipated 7 saum velocities you might be better off looking at 280 AI. Way more brass suppliers, similar velocities to the saum etc. I think even Lapua makes 280 AI brass.

The 280 AI is a longer cartridge than saum though and will need a proper long action to seat the heavy’s long. You can cheat the action length restrictions a bit with 7 saum and fit that into a tikka length action with no drama.

Stuffing 7 saum into a short action will probably pull a lot of performance out of it. Which is why I suspect we see such varying velocities posted around.

280ai on a Tikka with factory mag/bottom is limited too. If you like the idea of the SAUM you may want to look into the 7 Sherman Max. ADG brass pops up pretty frequently on the Sherman page.

I noticed that Sharman seems to always have formed brass ready to ship. Idk how or why. It’s just ADG 7 saum brass that they then form to Sherman spec. I can only assume it just doesn’t sell fast/much because regular ADG 7 saum was slim pickings even before the Bran-demic. I’d suggest 7 saum brass is even more rare right now than H1000. You can at least sell a kidney for some H1000 off GB. No 7 saum brass on GB.

Fierce just slaps together parts from suppliers. They order prefit barrels to screw onto actions made in a machine shop in Canada. I got screwed with a carbon barrel that turned out to be a lemon.... that they wouldn't even check out. (They didn't chamber 26 Nosler anymore, and didn't want to pay for a custom order to replace it).

My list of everything they screwed me on is long. I believed their bullshit when they were a fledgling semi-custom outfit getting slandered on the forums. I should have listened, because those crooked SOB's don't back their product!

Not sure in current runs but I’ve also got R-P and Norma 7 SAUM brass, hornady 6.5 saum (not sure if they sell 7?) and I know nosler had 7 saum brass too.
