Here is what I am really curious about….we know the 7BC isn’t the end of the line. There is going to be a 300BC and one would have to think a 6.5BC.

The question is…what would the parent cases be? Will the 300BC require a magnum bolt head?

I am thinking they will use an unbelted version of the 300 win mag, shortened a little to be able to use longer bullets and it will require a magnum bolt head. But that is a random guess.
A slightly shortened 30-06ai with 300win performance and fast twist barrels seems more likely.

I would like to see 6mm as the next option.

6.5 is pretty dang crowded from a marketing perspective.

Less guys are hunting with big 30 cal magnums these days.

The bullet selection in 277 isn't great.

If you think 6.5 is a crowded marketplace...you should see 7mm!

Maybe a 30 isn't even needed if they make a 190 terminal ascent in 7mm.

Since Terminal Ascent is mostly copper I feel like a 190 7mm version would either be a turd for it's weight ballistically or require more twist than exists in factory rifles or common 7mm blanks.

I won't be shocked if they do a 300 Backcountry (Americans love the 30 caliber after all), but that seems awfully close in use case---particularly for a hunting rifle---with their current 7mm. If it were me, I'd start somewhere else. If they do go with 300 BC for the next installment, I agree with others that it will be a Creedmoored 30-06 case (shortened, blown out, 30 degree shoulder) running heavier bullets at 300 magnum velociities.

I think a 6.5 is a likely next installment, though I don't think you're necessarily wrong about the 6mm. I think they should do a 25 (think 257 Robertsish case size at 257 Weatherby speeds) but combine it with the release of a couple of new, high-BC bullets for the caliber (Tipped Fusion and Terminal Ascent, for example). That would give them something relatively unique and a bit of a gap from their initial offering.

25 cal would be a smart move, not too crowded. Not real familiar with the bullet selection, but I heard Hornady just released some modern bullets in that caliber.

I don't think they'll do a magnum bolt head because with the added pressure it will ad a ton of bolt thrust for the current actions to handle. The reason they can get away with the added pressure on the same actions now is because they aren't getting any heavier bolt thrust at 80,000psi on a standard bolt face than 65,000psi on a magnum bolt face.

I think an 80,000psi magnum bolt face would require a redesigned action or a lot of testing and deciding which of the available actions are strong enough.
1..All actions are pressure test well beyond the 80 that would be a new cartridge. Hell I think I remember some said they tested them well above 100.

2. I am having trouble understanding the magnum bolt face problem you alluded too. F = P × A. I think that is right. Logic would dictate that if F which is bolt thrust and P which is pressure you would see an increase in P you will see an increase in the other. So the 7 MM BC does increase blot thrust.

The 300 WSM and many non belted magnums come from the 404 Jeffery. Changing up the 300 WSM case some or the 375 Ruger case would work. I hope the 300 BC comes out but I would be estatic with a 338 BC. That is too much cartridge for most people so not holding my breath.
