Cool weather: Sitka Grinder - it is actually in their waterfowl line-up, but I got them because of the solid "dirt" color. They are now my favorite cool weather pant. DWR. Quiet. Durable.

One of my hunting partners wore the Grinder Pants on our recent Caribou hunt here in Alaska. It was 9 days mixed with cold temps (20-40*), a biting wind, snow, fog, sleet, and rain. He really liked the Grinder pants, but felt that the wind blew right through them. He concurs that the DWR is good to go and the Fit is good, but in his experience not the best pant for the weather we faced. Note, we were not excessively active, most of our time was spent sitting and glassing on windy knobs. The other member of our party and I were much more comfortable in our Timberline Pants.

Prana zion stretch are the best I've used so far (kuiu attack, sitka ascent and microtex are the other pants I've owned and used).

I just ordered a pair of Kuhl Renegades for $52 but would have purchased the Zion's if they were the same price. They seemed quieter and a bit more durable. Both pants seem very comfortable for warmer/mild temps.

I have a pair of Cabelas Micro-tex that I wore scouting in Northern Michigan a couple weeks ago. It was around 80 degrees with high humidity pushing the temps up to around 90. We covered around 18 miles in two days. The pants were surprisingly not a problem with the higher temperature as they seem to be relatively thick (like a jean). For $50 bucks, they are a good pair of camo pants for hiking and durability. The only issue I have with them is they don't stretch and pull around the knees and crotch, but that's why I ordered the Renegades.

Thanks for the reply. Agree with you there. I should have clarified for temperature. For truly cold & windy temps, I too think the timberline pants would be a better choice. I have the Timberlines as well and really like them. Tough pant. The waterproof butt is great for glassing. Nobody likes a cold wet ass!

Would love to see some more possible options in solid brown or earthy tone colours in pants that are quiet along with comfortable. Love the Attacks, even with the sale hard to justify so much for solid colour, the hip vents are sweet though..

$250 Can for a pair of Kanab 2.0 in dry earth. Hard to justify, looking at Prana stretch zion, just want to make sure they are quiet enough. I have found a lot of hiking pants in nylon are too swooshy for me.

Fjallraven Keb Gaiter Trousers- amazing and super versatile pants. Side vents, zip off built in gaiters. Stretch material where you need it & brush-proof material where you need it. Treat the gaiter portion with Fjallraven's wax or Barbour wax or Filson wax. Best elk pant I've ever owned.

Ouch on the Kanabs, they are my favorite for warm weather all the way down to moderately cool. Second favorite by a narrow margin are the Prana stretch Zions as they don't have as broad a temperature range and nylon gets a little sweaty for me when warm. I don't notice they make any noise at all wearing them, I hear my pack shifting around and my boots on the rocks more, I guess I haven't paid too close attention. Another plus for the Pranas is that I can wear them to work and around town.

I bought a pair of the Kanabs a few years ago. I was able to get them to about my knees and that was about it. The legs were just too tight for me. I sent those back. I called First Lite a few weeks ago to inquire about the Kanab 2's. I asked if they were a more relaxed cut. The girl told me that folks complained that the Kanabs 1's were too loose and the Kanab 2's corrected that. Lol.

Prana strech zions for me from hot through cool until cold. Once it's cold I wear sitka timberlines. Absolutely love the timberlines when the weather calls for them.

I have many pairs of Prana Zions that are my go-to outdoors pants. I have beat the crap out if mine and they are still going strong.

I also like the Kuhl renegade nylon pants but they are a little too baggy and noisy

I think they had some sizing issues in the beginning. I have two pair of the Kanab 1.0 both are very loose fitting
