I'm happy with my SHV 3-10 so far. I do wish it had a little more magnification on the top end for punching paper but in hunting situations I think its enough.

I’ve settled on 25 oz as my limit for “lightweight” mountain scope (totally subjective based upon reliability).

I prefer FFP in mils:
1. SWFA 3-9x42 HD if you can find one (no illumination but not really needed)
2. Trijicon Credo 2-10x32
3. Trijicon Tenmile 3-18x44
4. SWFA 3-15x42

SFP options:
1. NF NXS 2.5-10x42
2. Trijicon Tenmile HX 3-18x44 or x50

Depending upon anticipated distances:
SWFA 6x

A little heavier:
1. NF SHV 4-14x42 FFP
2. NF NX8 4-32x50

I’ve moved all my Vortex, Leupold, and Zeiss down the road and have 6 of the above mentioned scopes…still awaiting my SWFA 3-9 HD and NXS 2.5-10 which are on back order

Nice scope. If they made it in an FFP with a good hunting reticle it would be my choice for sure.
Fingers crossed they’ll come out with something like that at SHOT. We will most likely get an NX12 though….

What distances would you limit the 6x to?

Yes Klassik. Bought from Europtic and shipped directly to S&B USA for the Mil Turret and Parallax adjustment to 200 meters.

Interesting, I didn’t know that was an option. This was on my list of considerations but I marked it off due to lack of parallax adjustment.

NF 2.5-10 or Trijicon Tenmile. I went with the 3-18x50 tenmile for my ultralight mountain rifle in 280ai and have no regrets.

My experience shooting on a 1200 yard range, I was comfortable shooting out to 550 yards on 2/3 IDPA or 12" gong targets with my Tikka .223/6x setup

Check out this thread, post #6, shooting Coues Deer at 480 and 503 yards with a SWFA 6X:

Zeiss Conquest V6 not illuminated but how often do you really need that feature. I’ve have it on my other rifles and have never used it.
The glass is really hard to beat.

Shot a bear at 600 with a 6x milquad. No issues. I have acquired a few NXS 2.5-10 and possibly need a few more. Would like to find a used one with mildot reticle.
