Used to be a Remington 700 in 30–06 which was an old friend. But today I’m in love with the 6.5CM and PRC for deer, sheep and goats.

That would be my Ruger Model 77 Compact Magnum in .308. It is my first choice for Deer hunting. For small game my favorite is my .22 LR CZ-452

Here in IL. a savage 220 20ga slug gun good to 175yds, a nikon bushmaster scope. Now for out of state hunts my browning SS in 308 with boss super accurate when tuned, swarovski 2.5-10x42 great setup short and light plus components and ammo is easy to find.

I’ve fallen in love with a savage 220 loaded with 3” 20 gauge accutips for eastern whitetails in the woods. I used a 270 to shot my first mule deer a few years ago. I just put the glass on a 300 Win Mag traverse. Hoping this will be my forever go to western rifle.

Yes the accutips are great. I use the 2 3/4 loads less recoil and never had a dear go far. Now to find some before next season.

Picked up a tikka 6.5 PRC last year and its a shooter. Killed one Buck with it last year and its a lot lighter to pack than my 300 RUM, haven't got a chance to try the 6.5 PRC on elk yet. Still might take my RUM for elk

I always thought a 257 wby and a 264 win mag were the ideal deer cartridges. I don’t own either.

I have killed deer with a 243, 6.5cm, 270 and 30-06. They all worked boringly well, but I have more bang/flops with a 243 than the other 3 combined.

450 Bushmaster for whitetails. Can only use straight wall cartridges here.

Planning future hunts out west..I did find some Barnes 120g TTSX. Any thoughts on this round in 6.5cm? Too light for Muleys?

120 grain too light…Nope. I use 100 grain TTSX in my 25-06 and it’s perfect for mules.
