The frontiersman -by Allan W. Eckert
Makes you realize how hard our ancestors were… and how soft we are now. Based on American history great listen/read
Endurance by Alfred Lansing is a great one if you want to realize just how soft we are now.. Shackleton was a hard dude. Almost two years shipwrecked in Antarctica and didn’t lose a single man.

Not sure if most know this or not? If you have Amazon and do the no rush shipping, it gives you digital credits that can be used for AUDIBLE. Which in turn gives you free books in Audible. Whether the book is $4 or $40 the one digital credit buys the book for you. It notifies you when a credit is about to expire and then you can just buy a book and it's in your library.

The best audiobook series I’ve ever listened to is Dungeon Crawler Carl. However, if I’m ever looking for a lighter read, I’ll listen to a Joe Pickett or Jack Reacher book.

This is a random one but download the LibriVox app (free) and listen to all the old classics. The old sci-fi stuff is actually cool as it gives insight to where technology and culture would shift to from the 1940-50’s perspective. Mostly short stories and interesting.

This is awesome, I have listened to most of these too. Great list!

Grant - Detailed account of Ulysses S. Grant's life. Goes into great detail about his early life and Civil War campaign. Really good on audiobook.

Because of this thread I started listening to the CJ Box Joe Picket series last winter. I've listened to 20 of his books in just over a year. They are excellent.

Some great recommendations. I will throw out a few that I don't think have been mentioned.

Barbarian Days: A Surfers Life, William Finnegan - one of my favorites. I am not a surfer by any means but his passion, dedication and thirst for adventure combines for an awesome read/listen.

The Dog Stars, Peter Heller - another all time favorite, Apocalyptic them, movie coming later in 2025/2026

Anything by Don Winslow - (The Cartel Series about Mexican Cartels, and some of his other crime novels)

There is an app called Libby, it is used through your library card and you can get free audiobooks for download. If they are not available you can get notifications for when they come in.

Yes. indeed. And keep in mind you can attach it to several libraries. I have mine connected to three. Availability of titles will vary so what one may not have, the other might.

Harry Potter - Jim Dale
Extreme Ownership - Jocko and Leif
About Face - Hackworth
Bomber Mafia - Gladwell
Hobbit/LOTR - read by Andy Serkis
