Favorite .270 Bullets?

If I was shooting longer distances or going out west I’d use ELD x. No experience with it that ammo in this cartridge. But I would trust it based on its popularity with so many shooters across lots of other calibers.

It's good stuff. I got consistent hits on an 8" plate from field positions (mostly sitting with a sling or off my pack) out to 500 yards. Then turned around and shot caribou at 125ish and 30ish offhand.

Terminal Performance was acceptable. Both dropped in their tracks. The further shot was broadside and went through both shoulders and made a lump under the offside hide. The core and jacket were together but separated during skinning.

The closer one was frontal. I only found a sliver of jacket but the lungs were damaged. I didn't look too hard for more.

130 and 140 accubonds, 140 tipped game kings, 150 partitions. For those not too worried about BC, the 150 partition is a killin’ sonabitch from 0-550yds.
The odds of me shooting past 550 are slim in the area I’m in. May give those 150s a run and see how they shoot in it.

Have personally always been a fan of Hornady. Shot the ELD-X in some other calibers and had good results.

I’ve had great luck with 130 monos. Barnes TTSX and Federal Premium Copper. (Nosler Etips)

All of my shots have been fairly close so I’ve had a lot of speed and haven’t had any issues with performance. Out of the last 8 deer furthest one went 20 yards.

130 gr. Nosler Accubonds or Partitions are never a mistake. As is the 130 gr. Nosler E-tip.
H4831SC seems to be a good classic powder (So says Jack O'Connor) as is H4350 or IMR4350.
With H4831SC load I worked up for a friend I used Federal 215 Magnum primers when doing so. It worked very well. With H4350 or IMR4350 I would just use Federal 210's.

140 gr. Accubonds or Partitions. Same as above.

I have the same gun/ caliber. I’m not exactly a gun nut, but my Dad is lol! He reloads for me and I’ve had great results with 145 gr. Hornady ELDX. Very accurate out to 600 and have shot a number of critters from elk to coyotes with good results.

Federal terminal ascent 136 grain has served me well.
Shot a whitetail at 327 yds with it and shot two on Friday and both were under 10 yards.
Bullet worked at both distances

I like Partitions and have no experience with anything else, other than Barnes and they work, the animal just doesn’t fall over quite as fast.

I used to shoot hunting bullets into a penetration box and the depth difference between 130s and 150s was so minimal it doesn’t really matter which weight is used.

Pick something that shots accurately out of your gun and you are good to go on deer. Deer are pretty easy to kill with a 270 if your bullet goes where you aim it.

130 partition for your specs. Always works, minimal meat damage. I've killed a lot of elk wit them and deer and antelope. You just about can't find a bad bullet for those specs.
