Look at them at the doors to dept. Of ed. How about calling out Musk in the streets? I don’t think that is reaching at all.
Haha. Meh. I don't care. Make this incident - in which a parent at a hockey game assaulted some kids - political if you want.

I wasn't trying to make it political, I was merely saying in is a microcosm of our society as a whole. Our political leaders are supposed to be representative of us a whole.

Respectfully, I disagree. They are our representatives, yes, but I don’t think they are representative. They are charged to behave in our best interests but they don’t have to be us.

Common, leave the politics out.

You put out the bate first, and expect the restraint of others to let you have your say unchallenged. I bet you lack the control not to respond to a counter bate, but out of respect for the mods and other form users, I will resist the urge to find out.

Though, @fngTony might be happy to finally have a reason to give me a time out, though I might be more productive this week, sooo.

Resiste et mords.

At a youth hockey tournament this weekend. Coach on opposing team told ten year old on the ice for opposing team to go eat another donut (picking on his weight I guess). Dude is like 50. Dad confronts him after game in the lobby. And the guy is drunk. This was a 9 am game. Coach...of ten and eleven year olds. Drunk. 9 am. Insulting children. His excuse? Well he chirped me first. Adults ruin kids sports.

Our org would ban a drunk coach, that is very unacceptable.

Are you guys apart of USA Hockey, if so that coach needs reported and they’ll take care of him coaching.

My buddy is the chief of police in our little town.
He and his guys usually arrest a few parents a year. They have zero tolerance for assholes disrupting kids sports and bullying of the kids and kid refs.
He asks them, “if you know so much why aren’t you coaching or reffing?” Response is silence or excuses.

The father of a U12 hockey players goes out on the ice and pushes two young coaches (12 & 14 years old) to the ice. Neither were injured in the incident. I hope he gets some jail time and a healthy fine. He must realize he probably just got his son kicked off the team. WTF is wrong with people. It's a kids game for gods sake.
Guy’s probably lucky that the father(s) of those boys weren’t the main factor in him having a rather expensive dental bill.

Best coach I ever had was my little league coach, he was always drunk, but unlike most drunks he was kind and funny, different times these days as I doubt they would tolerate him.

We would talk him into some funny shit, like showing us how to dive back to first base...lol

In Washington? You're a funny guy. You practically have to kill someone to do any time. It is a sad state of affairs here.
Realistically he should be charged with assaulting a minor and trespassing and banned from that place. But if the spineless state won't criminally charge him and the person did break a tailbone I hope the minor referee sues that dude.

We’ve been pretty lucky to have mostly good parent groups but there have been times when I can’t believe what some adults will yell at the refs.
There is no place for this in kids sports, parents like this should be ashamed.

When I was 12 or 13 I umped 3 games and said I’d never go back. The kids who start reffing and umping and stick with it must have some balls.

Yes, USA hockey. Their association will get a few complaints.

Played baseball, football, track, and hockey growing up. Played hockey into college and a bunch of guys I grew up playing with played various levels of college and pro including the NHL. The parents that were the worst and seem to be to this day are the ones that either never played or were shit. That seemed mostly true when I grew up (graduated H.S. 2004). There were always shit parents but it seems like going after officials is way worse as I never witnessed it even in some pretty heated games. Seemed like if a fan was getting out of hand other parents would shut it down.

However, haven't heard of as many fist fights in the stands like used to happen in the 70s when my dad and uncles played. Mostly I think it is noticed more like anything because ease of recording it and how fast news travels.

guy deserved a solid slash to the knees.

I recall playing hockey with the sons of Marion Barber jr (former NFL running back) and Joe laurinaitis (pro wrestler road warrior animal) and they were pretty vocal in the stands. Never had any parent spats I can recall when they were around😂

Last I heard he has been charged with 2 counts of 4th degree assault and has been banned from that and all other associated facilities.

There you go....good.

I've seen these incidents in little league and kids soccer. One time at a soccer game our kids were beating a team real bad-even after benching our best kids and subbing with our worst lineup. We weren't intentionally running up the score, in fact we were trying to take it easy on them.

A Dad for the other teams stormed on the field stopping the match in a profanity laden tirade. Thankfully, there were always enough big guy parents around to surround these guys and walk them off the field.

Funny how those parents that displayed that behavior were ostracized for the next decade plus.

Since the 2 refs were juveniles, I was hoping the charges would be upgraded to a felony, not going to happen unfortunately.
