EuroOptic is running a big sale. I went with the Mauser 18 6.5 PRC w/ 24 in barrel. They guarantee a 5 shot MOA group.
Very interested in what you think after you shoot it a bit!

Sauer 100x in any flavor. I just looked at Christianson arms, Bergara, savage and Sauer felt by far better made, less slop, smoother bolt. Tighter tolerances. If only tikka would chamber the tec a1 ! But Creedmoor is more then enough for axis deer !
I agree with your decision to add a new chambering to the line-up. I will always encourage folks to do that. I just did the same in adding a CA Mesa in 6.5 PRC. I have consumed a lot on info on the PRC over the past month. Here is one concern the non-reloader needs to consider. The sole factory hunting option is the Hornady 143 grain ELDX concerns me. The few on-game reports I have read on it tell a story of a soft bullet. A guide who would eschew the Creedmoor is concerning a bit to me. I'd take it with a stout bullet over the PRC with the factory 143.
Thisbarnes 127lrx ammo will be out shortly as well.
the Sauer 100 is a threaded barrel and not a press fit. their higher end model are press fit, but the 100 was made for the US Market with a Threaded barrel. Mine you can look through the taps for the scope mounts and see the threads on the barrel.
Bergara Premier (take your pick) in 6.5 PRC or .280 AI is my vote. All the aftermarket support of the R700 in a rifle that is what the R700 wishes it was. Great factory ammo for both calibers.
+1 for any of the bergaras. Either the highlander or approach. I have 3 and all shoot under .5” with factory ammo. I have heard complaints about no blood trails with shooting the 6.5 in the 143 grain ELD-X bullet. Anything I have ever shot with it has either fell in its tracks or within 20 yards. I took the approach on a Texas slay ride last December. 3 whitetails, pigs and javelina. From 60 yards to 476 yards. All one shot kills and all fell within 20 yards. Bergara is with a look.
I have a M18 and a CA Mesa in 6.5 PRC. For the coin the Mauser is pretty darn good just plain vanilla...
I have only run about 5 groups thru it but so far it’s about as accurate as the CA for 1/3 the $$...Not as pretty or smooth and the trigger took a little polishing (odd design...) But pretty good $400 rifle....
The Sauer 101 has a pressed in barrel. The imported Sauer 100’s barrel is threaded into the receiver. I checked in with Blaser USA before I bought one. It would have been a deal breaker for me as well. Buy one. They are fantastic! It's a personal hang-up with me, but I simply cannot warm to the idea of pressed barrels.
I bought a Sauer 100 XT this last spring. Have a Vortex Viper PST Gen2 3-15X44 mounted on it. It shoots factory Hornady 147 ELD-M’s slightly larger than 0.5 MOA at a 100 yards and was shooting a 12” plate out to 700 yards.(I would have shot it further, but 700 yards was max on the property) It’s manufactured in Germany and imported by Blaser USA in San Antonio, TX and comes with a 5 shot 1 MOA guarantee. It has a standard long action for all cartridges similar to a Tikka T3. I’ve already boughten long action magnum magazines and plan to load Berger 156’s long. I paid $720 at my local shop. I feel it is an excellent value.
Blaser USA imports both the Mauser M18 and the Sauer 100. I looked at them both before I purchased my Sauer. They share the same action with slightly different styling. Both have cold forged barrels. Almost like they are made in the same factory with different options. I liked the Sauer for the very little extra money. Kind of like comparing a Buick to a Chevy with the Mauser being a Chevy. Let me know how your visit goes. The customer service was excellent at Blaser USA. They answered all the questions I had, and I had plenty.I had no idea Blaser USA was headquartered here in my home town. Might have to drop by.
