You think housing in Ennis is high, just check Bozeman...I'm all over Montana for work every week. Heck, I picked up a Cooper Model 92 last week at ShedHorn lol

Bozeman would be heaven to the other 99.9% of the populous.:D
That is precisely the problem. The atmosphere is about as pretentious and self-righteous as it can be. The bumper stickers "Nobody cares that you tele" and "Nobody cares that you are a fishing guide, bro" sum up Boz Angeles up pretty well. No offense meant to Bozeman residents, there are some great people there, but the town is definitely not on the same page with the rest of Montana.

As for Montanans having a distorted view of reality, well that is probably pretty accurate considering the state of the rest of the world. But given the choice I would gladly take the blue pill.

Just went through Ennis last month and was remarking what a nice little town it was. I would love to live there. Beautiful country and very quaint. Prong Horn all over in and out of town when I went through.

The Bozeman hate honestly is really overblown. I live in Bozeman. There are things about Bozeman I don't like. But the attitude that everyone pretends is there is exaggerated. I'm not saying there aren't people like that. But very few.

I've never seen either of those bumper stickers. No a "noone cares you ski bridger" I have seen. But I could make "noone cares you wear kuiu" and it would fit. As would a slew of other companies for hunting. If it was really that bad every bar would be this pretentious yuppy hangout. But you know this is a college town and I can't go to a bar at 9 at night without it being all college students. Not yuppies.

The other thing is if Bozeman was that pretentious every hunter here would be wearing kuiu. Not that all kuiu guys are like that but some..... I've seen all of a handful wearing kuiu. Everyone wears sitka. And then don't go around going "look at me. Look at me. I'm wearing sitka." You see it but noone makes a show if it.

Lol, so much hate for Bozeman. I've been living here for 2 years and couldn't be happier. There are yuppie hangouts, sure, but there are more places that are just filled with good down to earth people.

and all this time I thought all the Bozeman hate was because of the Bobcats  (actually no hate for the Bobcats, unless they are playing the Grizzlies!)

Ennis is a nice town and a nice area; I'd live there (along with lots of other places in MT)

Pretentiousness and self-righteousness are not qualities that are restricted to yuppies.

No! I had high hopes for this one. I think getting a permanent job with the Forest Service requires you to know the secret handshake.
Oh well, I like it here, but SW MT looks awesome too! Moving my family was stressing me out so maybe staying here for now is best.
