I can certainly see the attraction of the Bob just like the Frank......I totally get it and understand. Sounds like there is some great advice on this thread. That being said, if you are hellbent on going in there, go for it and please follow up with photos and a story or two. I couldn't even imagine packing out an elk in there for 15 plus miles, or anywhere for that matter.
As a side note, I was at a trailhead a few years back on the border of the Frank Church just as this hunter had hiked out carrying a bull he had shot and he was basically carrying gear and the head. His other partners were still hunting and this was the only bull they had seen. I believe they had a couple pack animals also but he hiked out on his own.......I can't remember why.
This guy was an absolute stud and they were 16 miles back in so yeah, it can be done but he was SPENT. I mean DONE. As I recall, he was from the dakotas and a member here.
