Got the barreled action back today, going to call Josh at McMillan tomorrow and order up that mountain tracker long range. I just can't get away from how good the fit and finish is on my last McMillan so I'm going to keep giving them my business. Gun shoots sub 3/4 moa ten shot groups and it isn't even bedded. What route did you end up going? I am torn between these two as well.
I actually tried to order one earlier today and their color/pattern page was down so I wasn’t able to complete itGot the barreled action back today, going to call Josh at McMillan tomorrow and order up that mountain tracker long range. My only remaining misgiving is the amount of slope on the bag riding portion. Do you notice the reticle rising precipitously on recoil? That has been my issue with my Grayboe Phoenix 2.I've been using the Versa heavily this season (since mid-Oct, will continue to early Feb) and the one I'm using has NO flex. It is rock solid.
I've become very fond of this stock. I've been going back/forth on waiting for a Rokstok Lite or just ordering another of these for a light setup.
For anyone planning on ordering one, I'd recommend no paint. The paint on the one I'm using has worn more than any stock I've used. It's my assumption that this is production paint, but I didn't order it so I could be wrong. It's not a big deal to me regarding the looks, just a notice to anyone that it might be important to.

Also would you order with ARCA or leave it?

The full length arca I had added when I ordered is easily connected/removed with 3 screws.I do notice it a "touch" more than with the RS when shooting from the bench and/or prone with level supports...but it's minor and I have to focus to notice it. The zero drop design directs forces back and the rise is very little. In the field I've been very impressed with it. I was able to watch impact on 3 animals so far at fairly short range with a 6x scope. One was the lead coyote of a pair trotting straight towards me. Watched the first drop and was immediately on the second but the cover stopped me from shooting. The flat toe/forend of the RS will be most helpful when an extremely solid position is built...I'm fair at building position quickly but in the field I think it will be rare that I can build a position so well that the toe/forend will make as much difference as it does when at the range.
To me, in the field, I think the zero drop of both the Versa and RS will make the biggest difference. ...but it's a rare thing for me to have the oppurtunity to shoot prone. That might change things for others.
I should note, the angles on the forend/toe do give the ability to adjust elevation.
I will likely add the ARCA as long as it is easily removable. I don't require it, but I like having the option.
If the RS Lite comes in at the same weight, and was available now, I'd have already ordered one. They are both well designed stocks with the RS have a couple of things I prefer, but the weight of the Versa is it's biggest draw for me.
That’s good to hear. I just got my blacktooth and am not sure it’s an improvement over the Stockys… I think you just convinced me to spend more money and get the echelonUsed mine hard all through sheep, deer, and elk seasons. Packed and overnighted a lot. Love it. Have a second in the queue for my 6.5 SAUM. I sold my Rokstok some time ago and for me greatly prefer the grip area on the Versa. I’ll order up a third in a short compact size for my kid to when he’s ready to start hunting.
