Easton 5.0 review

Found this thread regarding the 5.0’s.
Yesterday I drove over an hour one way to Scheels to get a dozen of the 300 spine match grade factory fletched arrows. Had Scheels cut length for me, and I took the HIT inserts home to install myself. One of the arrows was cracked and when I went to install the insert and broke like a piece of spaghetti. How it didn’t break when the tech was cutting them I don’t know. I don’t think this was anything the tech did or it was any shipping damage (box was intact and none of the other arrows look to have any defects… I have flexed all of them multiple times… haven’t shot them yet).

This looks like a factory defect so I called Easton right away yesterday. They had me email them pics of the arrow to get to their quality team. They were very nice about it and said they would make it right for me ( so assuming they will sent me a replacement arrow). I also called Scheels and told them what happened, they were also very good about it, and said they would replace the arrow, but like I said it’s an hour drive.

I’m a bit scared to shoot these as I’ve never had this happen before! View attachment 866362View attachment 866363
I just had the exact same thing happen at Scheels in Meridian ID. Luckily I had the tech cut shafts and install HIT's so he immediately found the bad arrow. He flex tested the other eleven arrows and they were are all good. The tech assumed it was from shipping. Break location was identical to yours.

I have not shot the arrows yet, I still need to fletch them.
There are some people on Archery Talk documenting similar experiences with the 5.0s. IMO I would not shoot these currently. If you wanted light weight 5 mm arrows, I'd go RIP TKO or HLR

Another update on the 5.0s, I’ve got just over 600 shots on nine of my arrows. Everyone is still in perfect shape and spinning true and that’s after a lot of impacts of hitting each other in the target.

I have split the nocks of two and put a small gouge in the carbon but no splintering or cracks after flexing them
