Got an Elk in Idaho with a yellow on a trail cam. It’s on public land far from elk ranches. Also herded up with other elk that don’t have one. Did have some funky bulls with him. ID PUBLIC LAND.

See lots of mule deer migrate into town in the winter with ear tags. I'm surprised by apparently how common it is to have to tranquilize them.

For what reason would they have to be tranquilized?

The only cases I've heard of around town are when they are tangled up in clothes lines etc. That being said, that's almost always bucks that do stuff like that and I regularly see tagged does, too.

Hey Eric, I'm curious what unit you have this camera in. I was hunting in 43 and shot a similar-looking bull with a yellow ear tag a few days ago.

Shot a cow in Oregon in 2017 that had ear tags. Called ODFW and they had relocated her in 2001 as an adult along with a bunch of the herd from another part of the state.

Wy tags animals they have captured at the feedgrounds. I suspect they are checked for brucellosis and other diseases with other data gathered as well to assess the overall health of the herd.

Brother in law killed a bull here is CA last year. That bull was tagged as a calf (Mcloud, CA) and somewhere close to 100 miles as a crow flies in to Modoc County.

I see tags and collars on does every year here in CA.
