Don’t want a new truck

Time and tools ain't free...
time is hard to come by. As far as tools. 99% of the tools I used are basic tools any man should own. I rented one socket. For one torque it was 406 ft lbs and instead of renting the torque wrench, I torqued it with impact gun. Called her good enough.

Rental is free but they charge you a large deposit

I only have 150k miles on my 06 Titan but every time it's in for an oil change she gets a clean bill of health. Not worth my time or the mess to change the oil but I do everything else on it. Just did rotors, pads and struts for less than $1k in parts and about 4-5 hours of my time and she drives like a new truck. I'd imagine most guys driving older trucks are doing the work themselves; shop labor kinda kills the calculus. If you have the tools,Youtube can teach you to do just about anything.

If you enjoy working on stuff (I'm a tinkerer) then the time is easy to make. Much more enjoyable than scheduling shop time, coordinating a ride to/from, and being on someone else's schedule. But I fully acknowledge I'm in the minority
Easy to make doesn't make it less valuable.

I do my own maintenance. I've built engines from rusty blocks, sourcing all the pieces, and put them in vehicles they don't belong in. I love working on vehicles.

I also seriously doubt I'm money ahead for doing it.

Shoot, I lose money on oil changes.

I'm the same. Still driving my 2011 Titan. Has 96k miles. I don't want all the new gadgets. Just a plain truck

I also fix the little stuff as it comes up so everything works. I don't want a new truck either
