Don't get a 30-06

What does recoil have to do with ego? And why can't you see your impacts at long range using a 30-06? For me a larger bullet makes a more visible impact.
Because many of the arguments against shooting low recoil rounds have an ego based, can't handle it, sentiment to the argument.

I never said I couldn't see the impacts. I said I could see them more clearly. The larger bullet you are referring to is .044" larger. That is undetectable to the average human at any distance past a few feet. The impact is seen on the target when it hits. Lower recoil means less rifle movement at the shot - making it much easier to see things clearly when the bullet impacts.

Again, I didn't know what I was missing until I tried it.

Interesting but I have noticed in many cases that larger bullets are easier to see hit because they raise more dust, hair, often make visible hits on the far side of the animal. I have been shooting a heck of a lot of different rifles over the years and have never considered being able to see my bullet hit of measurable importance. Or since I shoot with both eyes open recoil rarely causes me to not see the bullet impact if it is possible as it is not always possible. The last two years I shot deer with 22 centerfire rifles. I really haven't noticed anything outstanding about using either the 223 but noticed my 22-250 seemed to have a step up on the 223. I feel that people should shoot what they want but it seems many think the cool factor over rides common sense. Since my favorite places to hunt have few shot possibilities past 125 yards I plan to use 45 Colt carbines. Without doubt I will get larger wound channels, deeper penetration and bigger exit holes. Well I guess for sure the 45 Colt carbines will have more recoil than the 223 but I will soldier on. Oh and the low tech cast bullets will get the job done as will jacketed HP's in the 250 gr. range. I will of course have a dedicated coyote rifle in the truck, have so many I have to do a rotation to keep them all in the game.
