Was thinking earlier this morning about something that combines a standard shooting rest (Y or V shaped) with an arca swiss plate on the bottom for attaching to a tripod.

After a quick google search there were a some products that seemed more application specific (i.e designed for AR platforms or combined w a tripod and not offered as a head of it's own). There's even a DIY version that's listed on the first page of google that looked pretty crude so I'm not optimistic about the chances of someone having a solid, affordable, and relatively light option available for sale.

Anyone out there using something like this or heard of someone making it? Seems like it would be a pretty convenient product for longer range shots if the weight penalty wasn't too high.

Thanks,

Rod

I was looking at the Outdoorsman Bino Hans for this reason. Double as a bino holder and shooting rest.

I’ll have to weigh it and let you know. Give me a day or 2 and I’ll get some photos up.

I haven’t shot anything off it (prefer prone off my pack when I can).

I also carry a Spartan bipod most of the time.

Sorry for the late reply.

I'm running a Promaster XC525C Tripod and a Benro S2 Head, That combo weighs 3 lb. 5 ounces.

The V shooting rest with Benro QD plate attached is 2.6 oz

My Zeiss Bino QD mount on a Benro QD plate is 3.9 oz by comparison.

Pictures to follow.

Some folks take the V Yoke part and use a threaded insert into the top of a trekking pole handle to get a mono pod.

Using with a swiss plate is a cool idea too!

Thanks for the responses! Looks like a pretty sweet set up. I'll probably get one since the weight is negligible. I just bought a quick release adapter for the plates on my manfrotto head for easier transitions between binos and spotting scope, this would be a nice addition.
