I rode a bicycle across Europe a few years back and stealth camped the whole way. A few tips:
Set up late and get up early.
Set your camp uphill from a road as opposed to downhill. People when driving/biking/walking don't tend to look uphill.
It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.

BITD ... A company I wanted to work for said "We like you but we don't have a position yet." 100% travel - so no signing a lease "for now." I'm a slow learner and it took 3 months before I decided to move on and live somewhere besides my truck. Actually "Crash-n-Dashed" in some of the nicer parts of town. Nice sunrise's. Coyote poking his nose over the tailgate. Pretty girls on horses moseying by. Parking lot of my favorite tap room (no DWI's for me). Buddy said "You don't smell homeless."

First couple nights of several Yosemite trips were always a bit dicey (Yes, the Big Ditch counts as urban).
Rangers had night vision, so a certain amount of stealth was absolutely necessary.
Had a bear scare off the rangers once, while we stayed put.

There was some lady "stealth" camping under a blanket here in the Springs this last year. She got run over by an emergency vehicle responding to a call. The driver was charged with negligent homicide or something ridiculous. SMH

I could stealth camp in a ghost town maybe, but I see no reason to camp anywhere near people.

I've stealth camped outside my buddy's house cause I drank too much. Don't drink and drive folks!

Never considered a roundabout or anything similar but I am looking to get a bigger truck with a canopy on the back so I can sleep at trailheads, the ski resort, or wherever.
