Does anyone stealth camp?

Yes, ive done it a number of times. Not out of necessity or fun, but for financial gain. I picked up a number of shifts at a different location that was about 100 miles from my house. They were willing to pay mileage at $.65 per mile. I used a very small tarp and camped in a green space with thick cover about a block away. I scouted the location for about 30 minutes and then slipped into the brush. I then proceeded to put in for mileage every day for the 5 day stints.

I was surprised at all the "stealth" camps around Anchorage last fall when the leaves dropped. I am so sick of it.

Interesting video.
Brings back memories from high school days involving a canoe, either down river with buddies, or a tiny island paradise with girlfriend.

I may be the only guy here who has stealth camped in Aspen. Home of the rich and shameless.

I did electrical work there one summer. Started out using my per diem like everyone else and staying in a roach motel in glenwood. There is some really good fishing in and around Aspen so I started sleeping in my truck bed in different spots. Got rousted by the PD, no Overnight parking/camping in city limit.
But they had a nice parking garage for poors like me. 5 bucks a night in glitter gulch, complete with a nice bathroom and walking distance to fishing.

When I was homeless I would sleep in city landscaping with my green army surplus mummy bag. I wasn’t jobless and stayed clean and respectable, just couldn’t find a place at the time. Every thing I owned fit in my backpack. I moved around a lot and was only discovered twice by the local business owners.

yes, leaned traveling with horses that some county rodeo grounds almost always allow it. If you have a horse, you gotta pay, but if no horse, they've allowed parking in the ones I've been to.
Most county fairgrounds and rodeo grounds are pretty much open policy year round. Especially if you know groundskeepers and association members from rodeoing full time. Makes it nice if you hit bad weather or truck issues and need to layup somewhere.

Nice. Now overly privileged people can pretend to be homeless for a night. Now we just need an enterprising individual to monetize it.

Really nothing to do with homelessness. Plenty of public land around here that has no camping allowed on it...Campgrounds suck if you do not want to be surrounded by fellow 'campers'. Then there is travel and/or having to short stay in an expensive place..I would imagine the 'urban' stealthy camp is something of a challenge, the doggie certainly would need to be obedient to a T.
