Does anyone shop at Cabela's anymore? I don't anymore........selection

Ironic you mention that S-3. Read a post last week of someone from Wyo. who had their Ford pickup stolen from the Cabelas' parking lot in Thornton, CO. while they were inside shopping!

Down here in SA that Bass Pro parking lot is a real crapshoot. I went in there once and a couple cop cars out front, guy had a fully loaded up truck with his buggy on the trailer headed out to hunt and stopped in for a box of ammo. They stole the whole rig, trailer and all. That whole i10 corridor there for about 8 miles East you don't park your truck at a restaurant if you like your truck.

Remember when thieves stole that guys truck with his dog in it and held it for ransom, $5000 and then they dumped it alive in a random backyard and called him with the location.
That fiesta Texas area is a joke or SAPD is a joke for never being able to stop the crime there ( I mean come on it’s all day everyday)

holy crap I don't remember the ransom. I do remember a truck stolen with a dog in it though, hopefully it's the same incident and not multiple.

They permanently lost me when they refused to sell me 9mm ammunition in South Dakota, because I had a NJ drivers license. They also won't ship ammunition to NJ, even though it's legal with an FID card. They're like the Vichy government during WW2.

The Basspro merger destroyed them. I consider them one step up from Dick's right now. There's a good video floating around on how damaging that merger was to the community in Nebraska where Cabela's got its start. Cabela's is just one of many victims of private equity greed.

I get most of my stuff from Midway. I just accumulate stuff in my cart until I hit the free shipping threshold, which doesn't take long.

I'll occasionally buy one off items that I need immediately from Amazon. But given a choice, I'd much rather give my business to Midway, which has been nothing but good.

We were just talking about this at work. Their prices are high, the quality is low, and their staff, in general, is not good. I've switched to Scheels and Fleet Farm for when I need to get something in the store.

Always got the catalogs growing up. Always wanted to go to one. Never did.

Then sportsmans came to town. Just knew that was going to be the best thing ever!!! That was cool for a month or two. Cant think of a store where I have tried so hard to spend money and couldnt :ROFLMAO:

Honestly I'm amazed any of them are still in business

I buy a few things from them. I used buy quite a bit. They are kind of like the Kmart of outdoors equipment now. Also lots of low quality garbage. I am buying from smaller more specialized businesses these days.

Yep, no more Bass pro or cabellas shopping for me these days.

When I get a gift card I buy consumables like freeze Friday meals, cannister fuel, or other smaller things that I’ll use.

They just don’t carry the brands or things I want as far as tents, packs, or footwear anymore.

We are getting a bass pro/Cabelas/whatever it is next year (West Texas) and im actually pretty excited for it. Mostly because the 2 nearest to me are over 100 miles away, and the only other outdoor store we have is an academy. I wish it was a scheels coming to town but I'll settle for BPS. seems like every time I look online they have some good deals for the member only club. I will say I go in there from time to time when traveling to those towns and don't always walk out with something, as others have stated a lot can be purchased for cheaper online, but it'll be nice to have the option to.

My only purchases from them are duck decoys as I feel like I can get a reasonable price on a dozen floaters and occasional fishing tackle when in a pinch. I can’t remember the last time I went in and had something catch my eye
