I know I’m going to get a lot of different answers but here we go. I am looking for a caliber/round that I can use from antelope up to elk. Would like to have the knock down power from up to 600 yards and be able to buy ammo almost anywhere. What would you guys suggest? Thinking about 6.5 PRC.
TIA

The 6.5 PRC is a great cartridge. You won't find it everywhere yet.

7 Mag or 30'06 are my suggestions for your criteria.

And like @UtahJimmy said, this is a dead horse topic. You can find dozens of posts asking your same question.

Good luck.

30 caliber would be my recommendation. I'd also recommend you use the search feature as this has been discussed many, many, many times.

Oh, and welcome to Rokslide!

Yeah I’m still trying to figure my way around the site. Seems I can gather a lot of info on here. Thank you

If you reload and can handle the recoil, .300 Norma. If you prefer factory loads, .300 win mag.
Both have more than sufficient energy to handle elk within the ranges you are talking about.

The 6.5 is nice if you want low recoil. I just don't see it as having the smack of a. 30 cal bullet.

At 600 yds, you haven't tapped the benefits of the 6.5.

I have and hunt with 7RM, 300WM, 308 and 260 Rem. If I had to pick one for your intended use it would be the 7RM.
Elk only: 300WM
Deer only: 260 Rem
And I like my 308!
