So me and my buddy are heading out to gmu 54 in two weeks from Grand Junction for our first elk hunt ever. We plan to backpack in about 5 miles from the east side towards Soap basin or Stormy Pass. We have been really busy with work and have not been able to do anything beyond internet scouting.
