Disappointed with Area419 Match Rings

I was very excited to purchase Area419 match scope rings and the level that mounts to them. I did not mind paying the very high price.

When the rings arrived, I could immediately see that they use a round rather than a square cross, pin for mating with the Picatinny integral to my receiver.

I want a cross pin that fits tightly. Round cross pin against a vertical square surface only fits along line contact and is completely unsatisfactory to me.

Unfortunately, the Area419 website uses photos that conceal this fact. And the written description completely omit this fact.

For a product promoted as the absolute premium available, this is a very disappointing design compromise. And concealing it is improper.

I have asked the company to authorize a return of both products new in the box.

Let me stay quite frankly, that if the rings were free, I would not accept them.

I am posting this so that others can avoid wasting time and money, and can avoid the bitter disappointment of high expectations, dashed by a ridiculous design compromise.

Please don’t tell me that these are the best rings ever made when they have a known flaw in the cross bolt design. Lazy engineering is still lazy.

You seriously created an account on here to complain that Area 419 makes a substandard product and is hiding things from their customers simply because they use round crossbolt screws clearly seen in the online photos?

So if they are garbage which clearly superior rings did you decided to go with instead?

Nobody making a scope ring for a MIL spec 1913 pic rail is going to use a square "cross pin" that fits "snugly", A mfg might come close to the .206 slot dim but tolerance stacking will force them to make the cross pin on the small side. The whole point of the MIL spec is universal fit of a variety of products and many mfg's.

Push the rings to the front against the recoil lug like everybody else and go about your business.

If anyone else is unhappy with this terrible product please send them my way and I will dispose of them.

Did you really make an account to trash area419? What rings do you recommend?

Round actually makes sense. In the event of any movement that is beyond the ability of the leading edge of the bolt, the radius would attempt to climb the slot and tighten itself.

People should get upset at items that don’t work well

People instead get upset at random bullshit that they say won’t work well with zero proof.

This is rokslide, put a milspec atacr in it and throw it and show us if it sucks or not

If it sucks it sucks and people will get behind you, if it doesn’t shut up.
