New to digiscoping, just really wanna play with it taking some summer pics of white tails mostly. I plan to buy the novagrade since it will adjust to any phone. Do I need a shutter remote? Do these work on binos also? I plan to use it on a swaro STS 65 mm and SLC if they fit. Thanks guys!

No experience with the Novagrade, but my original digiscoping adaptor/phone case purchase was a Phoneskope with the adjustable eyepiece adaptor, and I hated it. My plan was to use it with my spotter and binos, but it didn’t fit on my binos very well at all (10x42 Swaro EL’s), and it was always loosening up on my spotter. I ended up getting rid of the adjustable and just getting an adaptor that was sized for the eyepiece of my spotter. Now it works perfectly. Last year I bought another spotter, and just bought the eyepiece adaptor for it, and now all I have to do is switch out the eyepiece adaptor’s depending on which spotter I’m using. Anyway, just a little food for thought if you’re looking to get something with the hopes of using it for multiple types of glass.

Novagrade is excellent. Swap phones instantly, but then have to adjust the lens location.

Shutter timer works great. 2 seconds is good for me.

For $10-20 they are nice, the timer does work just fine except if you have different depths that the phone could auto focus on like looking through branches. I've sometimes found with the timer if you get wind vibration it might cause the phone to change focus before the view is captured. With the remote you can a kid this.

Depending on your phone, you can click on what you want in focus and the phone will stay focused on it even if the view moves a bit. You can also touch the area you want in focus and the phone will stay focused without changing. Finally you can go manual focus. All these are features of the S7 and later Galaxy phones, and probably most other modern Android and iPhones. Finally an excuse to read the manual. 😁
