Yesterday and today's groups from my new (old stock) Tikka T3X.
No mods/straight-out-of-the-box, Talley ultra-light rings + Bushnell 3200 3-9 scope, 7mm-08, 1:9.5 twist, Norma 308 brass sized and fire-formed to 7mm-08 (1 x fired as 308, 1 x fired fire-forming, and today was 1 x fired now fully formed), 140 Sierra Tipped Game Kings (TGK), Today 41.5 grains of Varget, 2.870 OAL (.063 off the lands) @ 2795 FPS, yesterday 42 grains of Varget 2.822 OAL @ 2857 FPS.
Been too hot outside, can only do 2 shots a time with 10-15 mins cooling in between, and I only get an hour on my lunch break. But I'd say overall, this is looking very plausible -- especially considering I have my doubts still about the 140 TGK's actual accuracy potential because of notable dimensional differences between bullets in the same box and also observable runout on the poly tips. But if this accuracy holds with larger sample sizes, I'd huck lead at critters out to 500 or so yards with this.
I'll have to try some 140 Accubonds soon-ish and we'll see how they compare.
Yesterday with more Varget/more jump (2858 FPS).
Today - looking better, and a bit more to the right (I can't recall for sure, but I think I cranked the scope 3 clicks to the right after yesterday's range session).
