Has anyone been shooting these?
Currently shooting FMJ 300s with 50gr insert & 100gr BH, ~525gr total arrow weight.
Looking build a bit lighter weight hunting arrow for deer, and think I can get by with a D6 FMJ 330, according to spine chart. That'd put total arrow weight around ~470gr total w/standard insert. The smaller profile shaft would cut crosswind better & gain about 15fps net, over my current telephone poles. And maybe screw an Ulmer Edge of GrimReaper Hybrid on the end. to keep surface area to a minimum...

Any other D6 shafts to recommend for deer hunting?

Thanks in advance!

Mine are 330's, 28", three fletch blazers, half wrap, deep six insert, 100 grain exodus. They weigh 458. I've been super happy with them. The parabolic field points they have for them are awesome and my target arrows pull so nicely. I haven't shot one at an animal yet though. I did break one when I was shooting at one of those little Reinhardt balls at 60 yards, missed and and hit a rock buried in the ground, snapped right behind the insert.

I've been shooting them since they came out. I like them, I'm not a fan of the HIT or Deep Six system. I'm using the VAP outserts in mine. I shoot 125gr heads and there is essentially no selection in BH's, nor do I wish to limit my BH choice to a marketing ploy by Easton.

I have not found them to be significantly different in wind resistance than the FMJ's that I used to shoot. I saw some impressive performance on game with the smaller diameter shafts last year and think that they penetrate better. I also got my total arrow weight and FOC up by switching. I was shooting 340 FMJ's, not the 300's so I gained. In targets they definitely out penetrate the regular diameter shafts.

Haven't had any issues with them and don't plan on switching back.

Im shooting a 330, standard insert, Bohning fletch and 4" wrap, 100gr Ulmer Edge, that is approx 466gr. I shot my cow elk this year and experienced perfect performance.
The 330 spine is perfect for my bow (Hoyt Spyder Turbo, 68 lbs, 28.325" draw length).
There are plenty of BH choices out there. There are very few popular, high end BH manufacturers that do not offer a D6. There is a significant increase in penetration with these and the standard injexions.
I would say go for it!

Thanks for the replies, gents!
After reading up some more on D6 arrows, I kinda like the idea of a VAP outsert, as jmez described.
If I could drop ~60gr total arrow weight, yet retain similar penetration performance & foc %, sounds like it'd be worth testing...

Ive been shooting the D6 Injexion arrow the last two seasons. Total weight is around 428 on 28" arrow. Ive been pleased with them up to this point.

I've been playing around with these since early this year. Didn't like them at first, but then realized I needed to retune the bow as they sit differently in the rest. Duh.. Made a difference and my 2013 Answer w/ these arrows is shooting real good!

Mine are the 330 spine, 29" long with the Yellow VAP Penetrators. Using Slick Stick standard 100gr BHs. They REALLY penetrate into my target blocks. Some completely to the vanes. Fletched with 3 vanes, Norway Fusion 2.1.

Thanks again, gents!
HC, great to share, as I'm shooting a 2013 Answer also! Prolly could get away with a 28.5" shaft length on mine and they'd be perfect...

Only thing left to decide on, are vanes. Have SK300s on my phone pole FMJs, maybe could step down a size?

I tried a few different vanes and had a heck of a time getting them stick. I ended up crying uncle and had my local shop fletch them.

I used hot glue for the VAP Penetrators. Had one come off in a target so if you go that route be sure to use plenty of glue. :)

I'm fletching mine with Vanetec Super Spine 3 inch vanes and using the Penetrator II outsert. I haven't had any adhesion issues and can get a good amount of helical on them. I put the outserts in with cool melt and use Saunders NPV for fletching. I haven't lost an outsert in a target yet.

As far as shaft length, the Penetrator will add over an inch to your arrow length so you can actually cut the shaft shorter than normal.

Theh suck to fletch I tried multiple glues, two different kinds of vanes, and two different fletching jigs. I put 4" wraps on, FlexFletxh 360s and gel Loctite was the winning combo.

I have had no problem getting fletchings to stick with Easton glue and Goat tuff. I just made sure it was really clean with alcohol before gluing.

Check out Black Eagle Deep Impact arrows, they are a lighter GPI & might be what your looking for.

I shoot 28" 330 D6 FMJ with 100gr Trocar. Works out to 456gr. Shot a black bear in August double lung, then hit the opposite leg bone and absolutely snapped the bone in half. When skinned out, it looked like the bear had been shot with a 300 mag.

This is the left front leg...you can see the bone snapped there in the middle.

I shoot Black Eagle Deep Impact shafts (350 spine) with a Firenock Aerooutsert @ 32 grains with 100 grain VPA 3 blade and Ulmer Edge broadheads depending on what game I'm going after.

I've been very pleased with the arrows. Plus I don't have to use a D6 head, as the Firenock aerooutsert accepts standard thread broadheads.

Performed perfectly on my pronghorn buck @ 52 yards with a bit of a crosswind, was shooting the Ulmer Edge heads on the lope.

I've decided that I am going with regular Axis arrows for anything larger than mule deer and anything smaller the regular injection shafts.

Excellent, thank you!!!
