Ya but quality 6.5-284 brass is hard to come by these days. Lots of options for the -06 based cases. But those slouchy shoulders…yes the AI fixes that but 6-284 is just a neck down with nice broad shoulders already.

Which ones feed into 6-06 without any neck turning out of curiosity?Ya but quality 6.5-284 brass is hard to come by these days. Lots of options for the -06 based cases.

There was a maker of 6mm-06 headstamped brass. Everyone is out of stock right now. It is supposed to be a limited run yearly. But to your point, yes there is a bit of work to make 6mm-06 or the AI version from Lapua brass.Which ones feed into 6-06 without any neck turning out of curiosity?
30-06 has good brass but would be multiple steps necking and likely turning.
25-05 would be simple neck down but doesn’t has lots of good brass does it?
270 and 280 are both longer iirc so not a simple single stage neck down.
Am I off base on those or forgetting any?
Also 6-284 dies I know are readily available, not sure on the others.
I have a PBB 284win, the standard reamer is fine. The sammi chamber doesn’t have a normal style freebore, it starts as a larger diameter and then has a really long taper. Off the top of my head I don’t recall the COAL of the 162eldm but it’s not stuffed in the case. It's a long shot but maybe a few others will think it's cool and jump in with me.
Tikka .750 Taperless contour threaded 5/8 x 24
Cartridge - 284 Winchester
Throat - .139" FB? (The GAP Match reamer from PTG shows .139" FB, but I'm not sure what PBB has on hand?)
Length - 20"
Twist - 8
PBB only lists the standard 284 WIN which in SAAMI form has zero freebore. I have seen some other guys on here that have got this chambering from them and there is enough freebore to run the longer heavier bullets where they like to be so they must have something like this GAP Match reamer. Just trying to run the 162 ELD-X so nothing too crazy. I think that is the ideal weight range for the 284 WIN in a hunting application.
You might get more responses in the 6 NSI thread linked below. My understanding was the reamer spec is the same as the AW2 6.5 PRC reamer with only a two dimensional changes to neck diameter for the 6mm bore and freebore length for the 6mm bullets, so a 6.5 PRC headspace gauge would be accurate.
Correct, essentially 6.5 PRC everything but the bushing in the die.You might get more responses in the 6 NSI thread linked below. Variety of aics mags.
7 twist makes lots of bullets viable.
for 223 ai, 18” barrel. Loaded long. Middle of the road pressures should be close to:Any idea on expected velocity with 80/88 in an 18” barrel?
