Dalton HWY Closure

For those headed north, I would keep an eye on Alaska DOT info and Alaska511. Road is washed out in numerous places and they shut down the highway earlier today.

Also, there have been several report land slides and water on the road from Coldfoot to Atigun Pass.

Left pump 3 around 10:30am yesterday and it was getting bad south of Coldfoot. Lots of rain and water on the road, sounds like I left just in time!

The Dalton Hwy is probably the most vital roadway economically to Alaska. The state DOT will be on this to get it open ASAP.

I am up here right now, tapped in on the starlink. There are a shit ton of hunters up here. Not a lot of movement yet from the caribou. Not a single group we have seen are moving south. All have been traveling north. Could be pressure from the fan boat crowd along the river.

When the crowds get big enough, I am guessing there will be a federal subsistence board proposal at some point to shut down this hunt. It's happened elsewhere when the amount of people and transporters got out of control and from what I've seen the haul road is quickly headed that way

I dont disagree but I hope that doesn't happen.
