I was home on sick leave and sat there refreshing every few hours waiting for the ninth video to be loaded. Very well done series. Brought back some memories of too many too small rams.

Really enjoyed this Randy. You looked like you could use some rest by the end of it. Sorry you weren’t feeling well.

Guys, this is not a true representation of a backpack, walk-in sheep hunt like everyone keeps saying. A true backpack, walk-in sheep hunt does not have a guide telling you what to do (understandable that was not avoidable), it doesn't have a base camp setup by other people, it doesn't have separate "scouters" looking for rams to tell you where they are, it doesn't have packers to help with the weight load, and it doesn't have ATVs to get you in and out of the area. I'm not saying these videos aren't awesome, I'm just saying to be realistic about representations.

Did you even watch the videos? Basecamp set up by other people? Scouters? 2 miles of ATVs is the end of the world? Wonder if those people you linked drove to the trail head, that’s kind of cheating too...

Not the end of the world, just not a true representation of what a real backpack Dall sheep hunt is. I forgot to also mention having someone hike out for them, resupply, and come back.

I'm not saying it's illegal or wasn't awesome, I'm saying it isnt as reflective or true to what a backpack sheep hunt is for DIY hunters. I'm sorry if that offends you, but as a non resident, they couldn't really avoid getting a guide and having to pay for those luxuries/advantages.

Not what I saw in the videos. Not certain how their hunt differed from the hunt where one hunter chooses to hunt with a hunter that has much more experience in an area or hunting a specific species.

I’d like to know what they were carrying around in their packs while doing their day hunts. It looked like they were all carrying full, or practically full, packs. Just curious.

"Guide"/ "unguided" either way, if we think we have it tough we need to read "Hunting the Arctic and Alaska" by E. Marshall Scull,1914.

Never once did I hear them Say this is a true representation back pack hunt. They posted "THEIR" hunt, and I thank them for that. I've had easy hunts and hard hunts, never been guided, all DIY's and every hunt is different. So to be realistic my hunts look totally different from theirs but still enjoyed seeing the other side of the hunt with guides. Thanks Randy for posting them.

I’m setting here bing watching Randy’s Leupold Fresh tracks on Amazon Prime while making Habanero cheese and red pepper summer sausage out of caribou. Great program, my favorite hunting show.

I loved this series, really showed how much effort goes into some of these hunts and 'honest' shooting, not edited to make it look like you guys pulled it off with one shot.
We all know sometimes it takes one shot, sometimes it's a few more to get it done.

Ooops, maybe you didn’t know, but Rokslide isn’t like other forums and negativity and attacking others isn’t accepted here.

I didn't attack anyone. Please show me where that occurred. Saying that I don't believe this is a true representation of a backpack sheep hunt is not negativity just because it differs from your view of a backpack hunt. I enjoyed the series but disagree with some people's assessment of it.
