CWD 2025 and beyond

CWD was all the rage at this years hunting camps that I was around. A very very very distant second was ticks and lyme disease. I told the guys about permethrin and how I never have ticks on me anymore and I stopped worrying about ticks and lyme because it worked so well. About 1/2 of them already had at least one bout with lymes but none of them were gonna spray anything on their clothes that the deer might smell or was a chemical.

I couldn't help but chuckle to myself about all the fuss over CWD but almost everyone I know has been affected by lymes or knows somebody that has and most don't want to take the easy precaution to prevent it. It's an odd time to be alive! LOL

There are inherent risks we take every day. Cwd is one of them. No confirmed animal to human cases. Could it happen? I’m sure anything could but as of today chances are it won’t. Go out and enjoy your life hunt and fish have fun doing it. What will be will be.

Would I knowingly eat a positive animal? No. However at the same time I wouldn’t eat a deer that had puss all through it either.

We all take risks define what risk is acceptable to you and determine how to best mitigate that risk. Outside of that there is little argument to be had.
