I still don’t know where I want to start with the 06 for reloading. Do I jump right on the 215 Berger bandwagon and see what those will do.

Crunch some numbers with the 200.20x berger, it's worth consideration as well.

Any on game results with that bullet?

I’m eyeing the 180 berger elite hunter as one to start with as well.

I guess it will depend what I can get out of the 200 gr bullets for speed.

Anyone running an 06 at 18” barrel length? Thinking of chopping it short now to be able to direct thread 5/8x24. Assuming I could still get 2600 out of a 180 it would still be fine velocity wise to as far as I’d shoot animals which I’d place at 500yds or so.

Won’t have a suppressor till the ATF decides to send me my stamp.

Exactly what I did. I will finish up my seating depth loads with 180s this week and Chrono some loads for you. It's been a killer so far and is my winter load development project.

Looking forward to hearing your results. Iv got a little time yet to decide, still waiting on the action.

After popping off too many rounds without ear pro this year I kind of want a short suppressed rifle, though I won’t have the suppressor till hopefully September.

Action showed up. Defiance upgraded me to the new tenacity action with integral recoil lug. Was told it would take an extra two months for the new version, got my shipping notification a couple weeks later.

Still need to buy a bottom metal/mag box/spring/follower and a trigger. After that it’s off to LRI to put the barreled action together and do some kind of coating, still undecided on that, will probably leave it up to LRI on what they think is best.

@Clartar any update on the 18 inch barrel? I’m still leaning heavily towards just doing 24” at 9/16 and getting a CB TBAC ultra 7 in the future. And just using my impulse gemtech tracker I bought for other rifles.

Any numbers?
Sorry. Got slammed with holidays then went on a hunting trip the last two weeks.

Back now and should be able to get loads setup this weekend . Not sure when I will be able to Chrono and shoot. Likely not until the following weekend.

No problem, I’m looking to make a decision by March when I take the parts in

Been sitting on the parts for a while now... finally dropped them off at LRI.

I ended up going trading for a Bart #4, going to do a wrought iron flute, and thread it for a suppressor at 24”

They talked me into the Serengeti reamer. And a full cerakote.

Can’t wait till it’s done

It’s finally done, figured I’d update. Now I just need to get a scope on it and some dies. LRI assembled it and did an amazing job, fit and finish is unlike any rifle Iv ever owned. They were quick also, 4 months during this busy time. I went with the Serengeti reamer, and plan to shoot Berger 185 VLD hunters, 180 and 205 elite hunters through it suppressed.

Great rifle and choice of parts. The Serengeti reamer is an awesome choice for heavy bullets in the 06.

Will you be going with custom dies based on the Serengeti chamber?
Ryan
No custom dies. From my understanding the only difference is really in the throat. I actually plan on fire forming with factory ammo to break in the barrel. Was told if anything I may need to bump the bullet back. I went into it thinking saami chamber but was talked into the Serengeti after telling them I’ll be reloading heavier bullets.

Iv got 3.6” of mag space to work with and 500 185 vlds to start out after forming a bunch of random Hornady factory ammo.
