I just changed my insoles from blue superfeet to green, the heal sits in better, but pushes my foot forward a bit, now big toe is tight. Can't win.

Man....I feel your frustration. I've decided that if the new boots I will be getting don't work, I'm likely going to go with another pair of danners. They had always fit my foot right. I know they aren't the "high quality" boot that the Lowas etc. are, but they also aren't nearly as expensive and I could still get a replacement if there is some sort of defect.

So , I've been wearing the Tibets all day for the last three and the heel rub has gone away. My whole foot has settled forward and my right toe is hitting the front of the boot . WTF ! Now that the uppers are breaking in my foot has centered on the arch. If the toe was 3/16" longer it would be good ....but it's not. I just don't know what to do now. Going to wear the Sassalongs next few days and break them in and see if they are better.

Stiff boots dont work for everyone. You could also try some of the more flexible hiking style boots out there. Saloman, Some of the more flexy lowa boots like the ranger or renegade.

I guess im lucky, my feet must be built like nails cause every boot iv ever used in size 9 has not given me any problems.

Heck with it ! I'm getting some Chuck Taylor All Stars and going hunting :D. All kidding aside the less stiff boot is one of the things Mr Lanthrop suggested. That is something I can try on locally at the REI store.

I had the same problem with my Danner Pronghorn GTX's. Heel slippage was destroying my heels. Went to a Smartwool sock liner and a slightly thicker wool sock and I have had no problems since then. I've resorted to using the sock liner in boots where I don't have noticeable heel slippage in just because I like not having blisters anywhere on my feet.

Just some followup for any Zamberlan boot users in case this might help them. I resolved almost all of my heal slip by pulling out my green Superfeet insoles out of my Zamberlan Viozz boots and instead putting back in the very thin Zamberlan insole which comes with the boots. This has allowed my heel to drop down where it needs to into the boot, and locks the heel into place better.

Anyone try Leukotape on their heels as a prevenatative. I've known guys to use gorilla duct tape, but not this. He swears by it. I've got some Kinesiology tape. They look similar in photos. Not sure if they are the same or not. Here's a link to links to Leukotape: http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&ke...vptwo=&hvqmt=b&hvdev=c&ref=pd_sl_5sblsgp7cz_b
Sorry, Hadn't Read All Of This Until Tonight. I See Others Mention The Leukotape As Well. As I've gotten Older My Skin Has Become Dryer And Maybe Thinner. I Think This Is Some Of Issue For Some Of Us.

Btw. The Compeed Is Showing On Amazon.

Shrek, Any Progress?

Not really , I went back to a pair of Hanwag Yukons I had that are slightly too big but don't tear my feet up. Because they are too big I slide around in them and the support isn't great but they don't hurt me. I did go to the REI store we have here and tried on everything they had. Nothing reall fit well. The asolo's fit the bests but there was still slip. I'm going to hunt what I have this year then start a search for a better fitting boot after my hunt. I don't want to wreck my feet with only a month to go.

Well good luck to you. Seems I have a different combination of insoles that work for every boot. Powersteps Pinnacle seem to work well for me in most though and I have a local shoe shop that manufacture their own half plastic insole that works with factory insoles and has worked very well for me. http://www.wyfield.com/product.html Great heel cup and semi-custom. I've pretty much tried every insole and these have been best so far. Also socks make a big difference. Smartwool PHD Heavy have been the best by far for me, even when temps are warmer. Seems to regulate my foot temp well and more merino content than other brands so they are softer and more comfortable. I've tried all the others including Darn Tough (too clammy feeling and not soft) which may be tough, but they don't work for me. I don't really care how long they last if they're not comfortable. I've had the PHD heavy's working well for at least 3 years for me and lasting well......wear them 3 seasons.

Still with stiff boots there are inherent issues, especially for tall guys with thinner frames. My feet are long low volume and fairly narrow. I have to put a lot of things in place to work for me now in my mid-40's. I ordered some of the Leukotape and other blister preventions items mentioned in this thread although I don't have a huge history of blisters. Less stiff boots, I'm good to go - Crispi, Kayland, Vasque, Raichle, - no issues. Kenetrek Mountain Guide, and Zamberlan Expert Ibex - slightly different story. Both are close, but I still have to bring out the black magic to help.

Good luck to you, hope you have a great hunt! Maybe some of that will help in your thought process.
