Running from Idaho Falls to south of Salt Lake City, I ran into this:

Always wondered what it was...

Interesting. Similar but not as symmetrical as what I saw. Though they are probably formed under the same conditions.

They look like small funnels. Was there any breeze?

Wild thing to me is that it’s casting a shadow virtually to the ground.

I've seen water spouts like that over the ocean , very thin and cast a shadow .
