I wanted to share this pic of my first black bear. When he first came into the bait, I thought it was an elk for a split second. He tricked me the first night, but on the second night, I was fortunate enough to get him.

The second pic is of my first bear with a recurve. Not very big guy, but I was extremely happy to get him with traditional equipment.

Awesome bear! Did you get a rug made? I would love to see a picture of the rug/mount if you have one.

That is a really unusual bear! That's so cool that you got him! Congrats on both, but WOW with the recurve!

I just got the hide tanned at the time, (just out of college and broke). I need to get something done with it though. If I can, I would love to get a full body mount.

Heading up this weekend to put my bait in. Hopefully we can get some good video and a couple archery kills on film this spring :)

Looks like a cross breed black/griz. We have seen Grolar bears in the northern Alaska, which are genetically grizzly and polar bears. I'd be willing to bet you have a genuine cross breed.

Ask your local F&G to sample it's blood and tissue for DNA identification. I bet they'd do it for free.
