I was examining them yesterday and I can’t beleive how many people are ahead of me in the draws.

I also can’t believe how many tags are going to private landowners. It’s unreal.

I don’t mind the lo tags as it will be fun to talk w a lot of local friends I went to grade school with - who will get their tags this week and see where we can fill in the seasons. Most lo tags are just given away to family and friends.

My dad soon to be 80 will get one for a local 4th season cow hunt from a friend. He only will hunt public land and filled that tag at 79..

Another local tag we hope will turn up for a 1st bull for the wife and my deer points don’t seem go down much 😉. Hope a couple other life long friend draw some archery deer lo tags so I can help a few other friends hunt. My 11 soon to be 12 year old daughter also hopes to hunt deer, elk, and antelope on a lo tag. Sure helps my family hunt every single year close to the house. In fact one of my best buddies was not even putting in for deer til last year well we changed that!! Also cool to help landowners w the process.

Just like some folks hunt otc to gather a point and still hunt…..

Now I have and would support that any time ya hunt for ANY animal it burns all your points = but until then I will be hunting w tags from friends and will be gaining a point. Or this perk for a multigenerational family commitment of true locals is not a bad thing….

That's one thing I've never agreed with, the Private land licenses shouldn't come out of the general licenses. They should have their own quota and not take away from the public.

CO's Landowner system is a business of sorts. I know neighbors who don't hunt who draw Landowner tags and sell them every year and use it as a source of income.

Mine to go family or friends.

I wish it was more like Wyoming's Landowner Program, but, until it changes that's the system in place.

I'm not sure if I want to look this year. Overall, disappointed that my usual tags weren't even drawn.

Always interesting to look at the statistics. I ended up drawing a NR cow tag as I had no points but was lucky to do so 2/20 NR got the tag.

Is there a way to see by unit stats?

You should be able to follow that link and then check results for the species you’re interested in.

It’s by individual tags so unless the tag is for multiple units, that is how it’s broken down. You just have to know the code you want and then it’s in alphabetical order. E for elk. Then E/either sex, F/cow, or M/bull. Then the lowest number unit. Then season number. Then weapon.

Colorado is always baffling. Hopefully some of the future changes make things a little easier.
