The title is somewhat misleading. The state is adding an additional 100,000 State Trust Land acres that will be open to hunting, to an existing 400,000+ acres. They are not opening or adding 500,000 new acres, if I understand correctly. The majority of Colorado State Trust Lands are still not open to hunting. Regardless, it is a step in the right direction.

I read it as 500,000 acres will eventually be added to the current 480,000 leased acres. 100,000 acres will be added this year, 400,000 more acres will be added in the future once they have gone through a process to determine which sections of STL will add the most value for hunters.

After the additions this year and in the future, 980,000 acres of STL will be accessible to hunters.

Well, that is a lot more significant. Thanks.
