Colorado non res draw question

As a non res with 0 points, if my first choice is for a unit with say 50% odds and my second choice is for a unit with 100% odds. If i don't get my first choice will i be guaranteed to get my second choice since it's 100% draw ?

Nothing is guaranteed. Nobody can predict draw odds accurately.

But if your second choice is an archery tag that’s otc for residents, yeah probably.

Not necessarily. All those stats just mean that "last year" was 100% draw. This year will be another crap shoot.

Look at the odds of the second choice for your second choice tag ur second choice might be 10% in the secondary

No, you are not guaranteed. That 100% choice may not be next year

IMO...the only thing close to a guarantee would be your 2nd Choice being for a tag that states "leftovers" on last year draw recap. One other good thing about drawing your 2nd Choice is you also get a Preference Point.

As stated above there are no guarantees with the 2nd choice, based on what I’m seeing on GOHUNT certain easy to draw units seem to have good odds for second choice.

There are plenty of units you could draw last year with 0 pts, but it needed to be your first choice, not 2nd choice. And that was last year…

So I just got off the phone with Colorado Parks and wildlife. I ask if my first three choices were not 100% draw and my 4th choice was, would I be awarded my 4th choice if I didn't get draw for any of my first 3 choices. She said if my 4th choice ends up at 100% that i would be awarded that choice. I understand the % I'm looking at on GoHunt are for 2025. And will likely change

Fair enough, technically there are a few NR OTC antlerless hunts and either out on the plains. Based on OP's responses i feel the clarification was still necessary.

Dig into the Stats - there were [and probably will be this year] leftover NonRes ES Archery elk tags last year for certain units

Oh sure, there are high probability leftovers, but i don't know if i'd refer to those as guaranteed?
