Polis, CSU Pathways conference to focus on shifting values in wildlife management

Just came across this concerning article talking about Colorado moving its wildlife management into and “era of mutualism” due to changing values in the state. Are we seeing the beginning of end of hunting in Colorado?

“societal values toward wildlife have shifted in the United States toward more of a “mutualist” perspective, meaning people are more focused on wildlife protection and compassionate management”

This goes to show the disconnect in how people in big cities think vs reality. They think the beef and chicken they eat comes from a factory that doesn’t harm animals. The disconnect that is being built in society will keep these kind of conversations in circulation.

Washington has been going thru the same thing for a while with a lot of the same catch phrases.

What happened to the Washington spring bear hunt?

Greed

All of the pro wolf clowns in Colorado don't think it will affect the number of elk. moose and deer tags issued. Releasing an uncontrolled predator with super high reproductive rates into Colorado elk, deer herds with zero management plan.

That's an awful broad brush you're painting with.

And to do so you're making a logical disconnect as big as the one you're accusing urban dwellers of making.

Sure, there's some people who who don't understand where meat comes from. A very, very small portion of people.

The VAST majority of people understand that meat doesn't come without blood and death. Even if the choose to not participate in the process.

no, the pro wolf clowns know exactly what they where doing….

Think CO Res and NR hunters are divided now….. Just wait once the wolf initiative is in full swing and numbers explode.. Ungulate Tag numbers will start dropping like flies, and Res will start pushing for even less NR allocation to protect any opportunity they have left, Mean will NR money dramatically disappears from the CO Wild life budget and the NR money supporting any pro hunting legislation initiatives dry up in unison

The consensus thinking would be to just hunt elsewhere, you know, the states where moronic Progressives haven't destroyed traditional values and opportunities.

If these western states, CA WA, OR, CO, etc. continue down this ridiculous path hopefully states like Idaho will adopt an equally stark reciprocity, *if you don't allow hunting opportunity in your state(s), DON"T BOTHER COMING TO OURS.*

A large portion of Americans have no idea where their food comes from including meat and the conditions of factory farming. Look at the list of chemicals on all of the processed foods consumed by the average American. Look at sky rocketing obesity rates, sky rocket diabetes rates, etc. Americans choose not to be concerned about their food sources and quality of sources. They purposefully chose ignorance if it doesn't fit into their world views.

Ask a vegan if hunting is better for the environment than factory farming GMO veggies, fruits and grains and seed oils

Americans are very disconnected from their food sources and environment,

That doesn't mean they think meat is made in factories.

Lol. Where can I buy a mountain lion tag, or an OTC elk tag in California?
You can't, but you knew that. Voters killed lion hunting; elk numbers are too low for otc. The fact remains that hunting is still happening in CA. Last year the commission unanimously voted down a petition to halt bear hunting. So not everything is negative. Is everything great here? Absolutely not. Colorado hunters better learn quick from CA, OR, WA, etc. If enough Colorado hunters make some noise it will be to their benefit. I'd guess a large number won't lift a finger until it's too late.

Unfortunately this is probably true.

@SoloWilderness any progress with this? What have you learned so far? Can members here do anything to help?

glad you brought that up that meat isn't made in factories. vegan fake meat is made in factories using very harmful chemicals, is horrible for your health and vegans, who often go on a vegan diet for health reasons, still embrace toxic fake meat and praise how wonderful it is

You can't buy an OTC elk tag in Wyoming, NM, Arizona or Utah so what is your point?
has California shut down hunting seasons the past two decades? You stated that California has never shut down hunting seasons in your post. Did California shut down hunting seasons because they were making too much money off of license sales?

Is that true or false? lol

Will wolves increase elk, deer and moose populations in Colorado? Will more tags be issued 10 years from now so Colorado needs more money?
