Colorado Lead-Free Pilot Program

It's not what we're talking about here...

Why do so many gun guys love straw man arguments?
You are the one that said it was hyperbole and isn’t happening then when you get corrected and someone shows that it’s been tried you act like that’s not where the conversation shifted. That might not have been what the conversation started at but that’s what you responded to.

It’s not a straw man argument when there has been a bill introduced to do that.. also if you want to see what laws are going to be passed or attempted in states like Colorado that are shifting left, look at what California has done in the past.

That's not what THIS bill is.

Let's face it, most people don't care much one way or the other. My mother probably doesn't even know what bullets are made of. People like her are who you're trying to convince and sway.

If they're saying "let's possibly regulate lead for hunting because of health issues in wildlife/people" and your response is "banning lead bullets for hunting is going to lead to banning all lead bullets and make shooting too expensive and a gun ban!" who do you think people in the middle will find more reasonable?

They're not trying to ban lead for target shooting.

Hyperbole doesn't lend credibility to your argument.
They’re not trying to ban lead for target shooting, YET. You’re working awfully hard to get your head in the sand. I can only assume that you just like to argue. It’s been stated multiple times that non-lead hunting ammo is step one. We’ve seen in Cali where that actually leads. CO is doing their best to become Cali, especially with the invasion we’re seeing currently. Habitat loss and windmills are and always will be far more disruptive to wildlife than any amount of lead ammo being used. Yet we still can’t get second and third homes and wind farms built fast enough. Eagles and all other wildlife can eff off from those areas I guess. We’ve been boned enough by Pollis (the irony) that nobody with any sort of grasp on reality should ever trust him or his policies again. See the copper creek wolf introduction for an example. Dig in, read and understand how it went down from the beginning to the current and tell me why we should trust anything that comes out of CO state government going forward.

This isn’t even a bill! This is a voluntary program.

That’s where this started then the conversation shifted. If you are really interested in this, research how lead was banned in California it started with 1 area for condors and the condor range, then after 10 years it became the entire state.. this shows this shit happens in stages and no
Matter how much you give to
Anti hunting and anti gun groups they don’t stop they find a new agenda to push the next year. Which in 2021 the bill I referenced was introduced to try to ban lead from all ranges in California I guarantee you it will be introduced again within a couple years.

Lead poisoning absolutely kills raptors. Most of their populations are high enough that they can sustain the mortality just fine. The last time I looked it was something like 1-2%.

Now, condors can't sustain the mortality since there is something like 300-350 alive in the wild. Every source of mortality matters at that point.

For those wondering, the reason birds are more susceptible to lead poisoning is because the lead fragments get stuck in their digestive tract for long periods of time (primarily gizzard) where the lead can leach out and enter the blood stream.
Can we just shoot the last 4 Condors, so we can put this whole Lead issue to bed??

Calm Down!!! It’s a joke

Must have missed them I’ll look at those yeah tungsten is probably the real answer too bad it’s so dang pricey
1 175gr 30 cal DRT tungsten bullet is $1.54.
1 168gr 30 cal HHT copper bullet $1.62.
1 168gr 30 cal Nosler ABLR is $2.12
1 180gr 30 cal Sierra TGK is $0.74.

So are they expensive, ya I guess they're on the higher end. But by no means are they the most expensive bullets out there. Even compared to high end lead.
