Colorado elk draw!

Residents, are your tags showing up yet? Brochure shows licenses in the mail on June 27th and I haven't received mine yet. Thinking in years past it would have been here within two weeks of the "in the mail" date. Not quite worried yet but just wondering if I'm alone.

Not a resident but mine was in my mailbox on the 29th of June.

Well crap. Not looking forward to paying half the license cost because of a USPS failure so I guess I'll give it another week or two.

Non resident here but I have yet to get my tag in the mail. Called today and they said to call back on Monday if I hadn’t received it yet to start the reprint process

I got my license in the mail but no tags yet. I thought that was sort of strange but I drew via the second drawing so maybe that has something to do with the delay?

Nope. What I received is the non-resident annual small game license CO requires you to buy to apply for the dray. No tag attached.

Did you apply in the primary draw?

If you only applied in the secondary, I would not be surprised if they sent you the small game and habitat stamp separately. You will probably receive your tag with another copy of the other licenses shortly.

non res, primary draw, got 3rd rifle cow elk tag and license in the mail i think last week.

will have to check if i can get an OTC bull tag online/mailed or if i need to stop in before the hunt.

I too received my license separately from my tags/permits. But I received my tags just before the 4th of July. Those were from the primary draw

This is making it overly complicated. You received your small game license separately from your big game licenses/tags which is completely normal. Each license is it's own thing and the big game licenses include carcass tags. Nobody would talk about a deer hunt and say "yeah I got my hunting license in the spring" but actually be talking about their turkey license, right?

Anyway, still no licenses/tags in the mail for me. Guess I'll be calling CPW this week.

Our tag and licenses still haven’t shown up, and I’m getting a bit worried. I’ve already made work arrangements and spent a good amount on gear and prep.

It is probably about time to call CPW and get the process started on a reissue. Seems like both residents and non-residents should have received them by now.

Yes. I understand exactly what you’re saying but a previous individual was making it sound as if they’re all sent together. I’m not trying to overly complicate or confuse people, rather back other individuals such as yourself that know each individual item is mailed separately.

We’re on the same page.

Best of luck getting things sorted out.

This is my first time drawing in CO, is the latency of tags being mailed “normal”?

It is definitely normal to receive your qualifying licenses first, small game/fishing/etc. Things that don't have a lottery/draw can be processed and mailed immediately.

Regarding the big game draw, I have to assume some percentage are lost in the mail every year. You have to figure that CPW is sending out tens of thousands of licenses, probably not all exactly on the "in the mail" date listed in the brochure, and USPS seems to be getting worse all the time. I think this is the second time in twelve years of hunting Colorado that my license hasn't arrived and I've needed a replacement before ever receiving an original.

Interesting. I’m surprised CO doesn’t offer an e-tag option.

Any license that does not require a carcass tag can be viewed/presented via the MyCPW app, but a physical license and carcass tags are still required for big game and they are pretty strict about them.
