I applied to a 3rd rifle deer hunt as a NR with 5 points. This hunt drew out at 20% success rate with 2 points in 2025. The majority of hunters used 3 and 4 points for that hunt last year. I was successful in the draw. I was afraid of the potential creep so wanted to give myself a decent buffer.

Same I applied to last year's 4 point unit with 6 points and got it. Figured it was now or never.

Hahaha. If it was my last job I’d consider it. This new one pays pretty well and I already committed to taking my wife to Idaho this year.
If I pull something in Nevada on Friday when results come out I’m really gonna have a dilemma on my hands.

I knew I wouldn't draw a deer tag, but my buddies w/ 3 pts didn't draw in a unit that's historically 75%+ w/ 3 pts. They either got particularly unlucky or CPW is successfully getting folks to burn points.

Gents... Top rut or Go hunt or whatever is using historic draw stats. It's not really relevant. Everything changes after CPW does population counts and changes tag allocations. A lot of mule deer units have drastic tag changes year to year

Point creep is not at play as much as you think. If 2025 was 100% @ 4 points, if CPW cuts tags 25% it might take 5 or 6 points.

No, if you don’t catch it from 2-3am they make you do an actual full days work before releasing the results again at 5pm.

Got an early season alpine rifle deer tag! Should be a fun hunt, but also hear its physically demanding. Time to step it up in the gym.
